***OFFICIAL OMAHA AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

[/MEDIA] Watching the play I thought it was a fractured tibia, which would be catastrophic. The way he was holding it scared me. If its truly an "ankle" injury that's a major dodged bullet.

    Frank Mitchell injury

That's not the worst news by far. Hopefully be back before Orlando event.

You want a "magic number" for Gophers to hear name called on Selection Sunday? Go with 22

I love this. My optimistic view is such that I have MN in bubble at 21-10 season, 11-9 conf. play. Conf. Tourney will determine bid. I have MN going 6-1 in "Beat top half in the Barn" games, but 2-4 in "Winnable Road Games", and 0-4 in "Big Boy Pants".

All Things Christian Wiggins Recruitment Thread (Wayzata Guard, 2026)

CBJ seems to be recruiting, building rosters, establishing a culture around people of faith. That may or may not explain the recruitment or lack thereof regarding certain players. Merely an observation.

Marcus: Gopher men’s basketball picked last in Big Ten unofficial media preseason poll -- again. They proved the media wrong last season, though.

Totally agree, but we have to remember that Christie was a big defensive liability. It only takes one guy out of 5 to completely blow up a defense.

Marcus: Gopher men’s basketball picked last in Big Ten unofficial media preseason poll -- again. They proved the media wrong last season, though.

I just love "expert" opinion predictions. The difference between 8th and 18th in the Big Ten this next year is razor thin. MN shouldn't be last when the dust settles, and could very well win 11 conference games.

Johnson on walk-on Lincoln Meister: "He’s made guys better because he’s long, he’s crafty, he’s a better athlete than you think. He’s pretty skilled.”

With the talk about players going from D2 to P5 with limited success, it reminded me of Alex Illikainen, a top 100 ****national recruit from Grand Rapids who went to the Badgers at UW, flamed out, and transferred to D2 UMD. Coach Justin Wieck was thrilled to have him, but he wasn't great at UMD...

STrib: Good news on Dawson Garcia highlights start of Gophers men’s basketball practice

With the final schedule released, looking at the current state of the B10, just a few thoughts in anticipation of the upcoming season. Torvik has no B10 team projected inside the top 10, but NO team outside the top 74! (Projections w/grain of salt always). Every team top to bottom has weak...

Andy Katz names Garcia 4th best wing in the country

Couple guys up there who haven't ever played a college game. Clearly they can play, but imo there should be some success at that level to be "best".

2024-25 ITH Season Preview: Minnesota Golden Gophers

When do you think Torvik will add Tyler Cochran to the Minnesota roster? Its weird how he is still persona non grata on Torvik site.

Big Ten Basketball: 2024 offseason grades for each team (Minnesota Golden Gophers - Grade: C)

Once again, for fun. Looking at Power 5 Collectives, Big Ten (Ave. $10.2M) is second behind SEC ($12.7M) from published data (nil-ncaa.com). Approx. 90% of all Collective funding goes toward Football and Basketball. From a smaller data pool of reported BB NIL, the average P5 basketball...

    new roster takes shape

Yes, and walk-on Lincoln Meister from UMD is in his 4th year '24-25 but likely not a contributor. Smart guy, mechanical engineer I think. Rigsby is a junior, no? Played '22-'23, '23-24'.

    new roster takes shape

Ur right. I miss-typed. Proballers site was my source for most players. Should be 23 yrs old. Thx.

    new roster takes shape

We'll see firsthand if experience means as much as we think. The top 10 rotational players expected for MN have an average age of 23.2 yrs. If Asuma is included in that rotation, the average age drops all the way down to 22.7yrs. old. As best as I could, here is the breakdown with comparisons...

Is This Ben's Best Ever July Roster?

Just for fun here in the silly season. I compared the scoring rates of recent transfers into MN from bigger D1 schools vs. smaller D1 institutions in hopes of gleaning some insight into scoring expectations. First year after transferring in, with a small sample size of high minute players...
