Memory lane - attending a game at the shoe

No team has a corner on jackass fans, although the Badgers treat opposing fans poorly when in the stands, I've had more than one come up to me at the bars post-game and buy me a beer for being a good sport. The worst fans I've encountered in college football are the Iowa Hawkeye fans who did...

Fun look in the booth for the longest play in Huntingon Bank Stadum history

Grimm is good enough to forgive the Dave Lee fiasco. Listening to Ray was a real treat after moving to MN for school. They don't make announcers like that anymore.

Memory lane - attending a game at the shoe

I was at that game as well. The fans were great. I had my 12-year-old son with me, and the fans were generous with their time talking to him about going to College someday, and answering questions about Ohio State (he was considering it as a destination at the time). All in all, one of the...

    Koi vs Jeremiah?

Washington doubled him. I suspect that's what we'll do as well. Washington kept him in check for a good portion of the game, but they did not stop him completely. We won't either, but like all players of Smith's ability, if you can limit his impact, that's a win.

2025-26 College Football Coach Fired/Hired Thread

It's California, so, no. The UC system is all one (same as the U's situation), but bigger, and muktiple D1 schools involved. The division of funding from the state is far more complex than in Minnesota (not for any real reason). The decision was centered on the negative impact on Cal's revenue...

Who is your Gophers MVP in win over Rutgers?

The Rutger's center had the biggest impact on the final outcome. AK didn't even call for the snap..... But Drake took advantage of every mistake Robb Smith made, starting with the switch to zone coverage on the long pass to Smith.

But Cal Lost To San Diego State By 34 . . .

Fleck is not above criticism. We got out of today with a win. We don't have to apologize for that. My expectations for the rest of the season dropped further today than it did after the Cal loss. We move on to tOSU next week. I'm not predicting anything, but I don't see a change in Fleck's...

By the halftime mark of the game, I thought a bowl game might be out of the question..

It's still 0-7. Maybe a little bit if an over reaction? It could be they judt need a little time to shake off the high of the Bye Week victory.

You gotta feel for USC. What were they supposed to do? Find a group of 11 more teams in or near the pacific time zone and play them every week?

USC = The University of Spoiled Children. Some things never change......(and trust me, that's the nicest use of that acronym for the Trojans).

Fleck: “We were 1-0 in the bye week. We used it perfectly. Whether that’s fundamentals, details, techniques, reflection, self-scouting..."

All coaches have slogans. All coaches use coach speak. Fleck is over the top and, in his own words, "is not for everyone." To paraphrase Crash Davis in Bull Durham, "If you win the Big Ten and talk like that, you're colorful. Until then, you sound stupid." I know even the slightest criticism...

Media Predictions - Minnesota Vs. Rutgers 2025

This past weekend solidified the belief among those who know about college football in the Gophers. Folks have no problem picking the Gophers after their thrilling rebound performance this past weekend.

Fleck: “We were 1-0 in the bye week. We used it perfectly. Whether that’s fundamentals, details, techniques, reflection, self-scouting..."

Cal 0 San Diego State 34 Doesn't look like a bye week victory to me. Looks like Cal beat us on the field in week 3 and went out of their way to make sure we know we had no business losing to them in the first place in week 4.

Predict the Score Thread: Rutgers at Minnesota

It was similar to our game against Iowa last year, except Rutgers lit them up with a passing game for the enitre first half. It was 21 - 21 at half-time. Iowa returned the opening kick off for a TD, then both teams moved the ball pretty well. After halftime, Rutgers couldn't do much offensively...

CFN predicts the rest of the B1G season (Gophers 7-5)

You'll forgive me for not thinking CFN is the arbiter of the future for college football. While I disagree with several of their predictions, reaching 7-5 isn't hard to envision, although 6-6 looks just as likely, and 8-4 wouldn't surprise me, depending on how things break for some of our...

Athan's dad comments on Fleck's press conference - by Andy Greder

I did not know that Robb Smith had resurfaced at Rutgers. Makes Iowa's 30+ points make a lot more sense. I, for one, feel much better about our chances with Robb Smith in charge of the play calling on D for Rutgers.

    Indiana Throttles Illinois

Indiana joined that group? I think making the playoffs puts them ahead of that group. They may not make it again this year, but they just blew out the 9th-ranked team. Indiana may not be able to sustain it. Still, Cignetti certainly seems to understand that the metric for success of a...
