***OFFICIAL RUTGERS AT MINNESOTA ATHAN’S DAD RETURN IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

You can't expect to win games by the refs getting every call in your favor right. You have to make plays on your own!

***OFFICIAL RUTGERS AT MINNESOTA ATHAN’S DAD RETURN IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Yes, but the bottom line is that we had two downs to make 1 yard and failed.

***OFFICIAL RUTGERS AT MINNESOTA ATHAN’S DAD RETURN IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Yes, but he was helped by having our fastest receiver being able to get the daylight to catch it.

Well, when Smith does catch it, he does a lot with it!

Play Koi Perich and John Nestor at corner against Rutgers' tall receivers?

Seemed like that was the default play against Iowa in the first half when all else failed. They could either get a reception or a pass interference. I agree with you that putting a short DB against a receiver like Strong has a high potential for disaster.

Predict the Score Thread: Rutgers at Minnesota

Well, you have to include the quality of Rutgers' defense into your calculus too. Rutgers is second worst (to UCLA) in the Big Ten currently in average yards allowed per play (6.5). Iowa's offensive average per play for the season is 5.2 (second lowest in the Big to Wisconsin). They averaged...

Predict the Score Thread: Rutgers at Minnesota

True, Athan lit them up from the air in the first half but Iowa also gashed them on the ground in the first half. I did some stats at halftime while watching that game. Both were good on offense but Iowa averaged something like 6.7 yards per play and Rutgers had something like 6.1 yards per...

Gophers five point favorites against Rutgers

We also have to look at the other side of the ball. Rutgers' defense is giving up 6.5 yards per offensive play, second worst in the Big Ten to UCLA. I watched the entirety of the Iowa game and I recall multiple Rutgers' defenders leaving the game with injuries so they also may be weakened by...

Gophers five point favorites against Rutgers

The same way people thought that MN was headed for a bad season after the Bowling Green debacle. We also lost to 5-7 Illinois (at home) that season but finished the year at 9-4.

Gophers five point favorites against Rutgers

Initially, the spread was about a 2.5 point Gopher advantage. I'm not sure what happened to more than double that number but I did notice multiple Rutgers defenders leaving the field during the Iowa game. Rutgers' defense wasn't so good in the first place and presumably may be weaker if some...

    Week 4 Other Games Thread

Of course. There are a relatively small number of teams who are capable of loading up on 4 and 5 star players anyway. If you're one of those teams you can use that strategy and it will pay off the majority of the time. If you're not, you have to look for under-the-radar quality players. I...

Iowa at Rutgers is tonight at 7:00pm

I've noticed on more than one occasion that he sometimes looks like Dan Marino in the first half but more like the Athan of two years ago in the second half. He definitely has improved over the last two years but he still can be erratic. As far as our secondary, I still think, despite their...

Iowa at Rutgers is tonight at 7:00pm

He's not the passer the Cal QB is (although he was pretty efficient last night) but he was impressive with his legs.

Time of Possession and Special Teams?

I'm assuming by "Drew" you mean "Drake." I also get frustrated by the coaches handcuffing the QBs. I think they did that less with Max last year because they seemed to become fairly confident that he would make the right plays. Drake threw an interception in the first half and that always...
