Coyle cut a deal with Ben this off-season

About ten years ago I took my dad to a luncheon where Joel Maturi was speaking while he was still AD. The one thing that sticks out in my mind is he said that if you knew just 10% of the stuff that occurs on an ongoing basis you would probably just choose to shut down the athletic department...

***OFFICIAL OREGON AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

The non conference schedule for the most part is filled in after Johnson has had a chance to evaluate his talent for the year. I think the NC schedule was dumbed down intentionally to give the players time to develop and jell as a team. I didn't expect much but at this point I am pleasantly...

MN HS Basketball 2024-25 Season thread

Of course I was looking at the girls thinking it was the boys. Anybody have a chance of beating the Cretin boys.

I don't pay close attention to High School basketball but where is Cretin, I would think they would be in the top 4 or 5 in 4A.

Asuma when Ben will finally start Isaac

The little I have seen is that Revenue Sharing my also address the issue of the NIL collectives, they may be on the way out, all speculative at this point though. Trying to give control back to the NCAA while addressing player issues.

Asuma when Ben will finally start Isaac

Not sure open transfer will be an option next year. Revenue sharing has a clause in it regarding contracts and transfer rules. Hard to tell what if anything will come of it but high school recruiting might become critical again and easy transfers more difficult.

    Typical reaction to win

It is important because they appear to be improving. They've played well three out of the last four games. Is it enough for Johnson to keep his job probably not, but it is fairly obvious at it's basic level Johnson isn't that bad of a coach. Much more to being a high level division 1 coach than...

***OFFICIAL MICHIGAN AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

That was pretty bad, not a fan of out of bounds plays under the apposing teams basket, prefer to have the quickest guy all by himself, let him get open, inbound the ball, and let him bring the ball up all alone. Shouldn't be a team that doesn't have one ball handler that can do it, I would Asuma...

B1G Head Coaches previous head coaching experience

That is key, compared to revenues at a school like Creighton they should be more than capable of competing at the NIL level. The case against other Big Ten schools is going to be just as tough but keeping guys like Hawkins and Payne should be much easier. I think they are going to be able to...

Ultimate Proof Ben is unfit to rule

A big part of coaching now is to get out and sell the program. It's all about the financials, If he doesn't want to do that go coach high school. It's pretty obvious he is not well suited for the job in its current form.

Asuma when Ben will finally start Isaac

He was always the best option at PG, he made mistakes defensively but he's a bit better now. No reason he's not starting and getting major minutes.

    Betts=Bust

You are making the assumption that Johnson is able to evaluate what talent he has and play them accordingly. Betts hasn't played, not sure we have any idea. Asuma is an example until about now.

***OFFICIAL OHIO STATE AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Why would you randomly play a guy about a minute a game and then put them into the game in a critical situation and expect them to perform to any level. A few may prosper, most won't. Not a prescription for people development in anything.

***OFFICIAL PURDUE AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

That is telling, he brought in Cooper also with about the same results. Guy handling the ball is so important. You can forget it with Patterson in that position. They aren't going to win anymore games.

    ESPN bowl monopoly

Based on the non targeting call in Atlanta and the fact that they didn't show the replay kind of points to ESPN almost dictating who they want in the Semi's. I'm done watching it's a farce.

***MORGAN ST AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Johnson playing him out of position to get him on the court maybe, not going to take Mike Mitchell's minutes, whatever it is it's not working, if he go's 1/11 against a B1G opponent they lose.

***MORGAN ST AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

It's got to be defense and rebounding. The guy can score, might not be physical enough for Johnson, would love to see what he can add as another scorer on the floor.

    Wisconsin Badgers are idiots

Sounds like they are going to push the contract side of things. If Wisconsin try's to enforce that type of thing they are going to scare lots of recruits away. I had an agreement with my first corporate job based on training, wanted out as soon as the contract was up

Al Nolen's comments on the FDU broadcast

It's been a fact of college athletics for the last 60 years. Coaching in and of itself is not enough to be successful. Go back to the 60's. No one could doubt the pedigree and the ability to coach at the time but more was needed and the Gophers needed to move on. A mix of recruiting and coaching...
