Please God no. This program desperately needs stability in its head coaching. Changes at the top in 2017 and again in 2020 were hard on everybody.

But beating a top 25 isn’t the standard. It’s about regularly defeating top 100 Big Ten teams and winning a conference championship and/or participating in a Big Ten tourney title game.

These 3 softball programs being added is not Coach’s fault. This specific unfairness is a responsibility held by the Big Ten and the university presidents.

It’s not all Coach’s fault. These players have to play better. Schwartz and Snippes were the top pitchers in their state. Hambrick has college experience. Enter was recruited by Florida State. Pitchers have to step up and play well. Coach Ritter isn’t throwing those pitches.

For several years Gopher softball fans have had difficulty accepting how good Kentucky is. They have already defeated Stanford twice this season. That is a good, SEC softball team.

Exactly. I take that as if you got “it”, you probably got “it” as a Freshmen. So let’s get those freshmen out there with the expectation that they play big. The Gophers don’t need to wait on them to develop.

I think our freshmen pitchers need to display that they can be effective at the college level by making regular, positive contributions to the team in most games.

About one third of our roster are freshman. To move forward this year and be competitive for a Big Ten title, at least a couple of those freshmen will have to step up, show themselves to be NCAA softball ready, and make a real impact in most games.

If you look at the players that have contributed the most to the Gopher program over the past 10 years, none of those players had Florida State, or Alabama, or Oklahoma, or Washington beating down their doors. The great players I am most referring to: Groenewagen, Partain, Fiser, Pease...

I don’t know what Indiana or Kansas have to do with anything, but the state of Oklahoma is the annual host of the women’s college World Series. And Oklahoma is a helluva lot warmer in the months of February, March and April (core NCAA softball season months) as compared to Minnesota.

I don’t think you understand how non-powerful middle-of-the-BigTen teams are.

I am a “reasonable expectations” person, but Gopher fans should expect more than this out of the bats.

Because 305 other NCAA teams are tying just as hard to get talent. It’s tough if you don’t have natural advantages.

Fully agree that this staff does not have a 5-plus inning pitcher. Also, freshman pitchers really need to step up.
