Dumb call on 4th down for NE. Gotta take the points there IMO.

Don’t think so. This isn’t a very good OK team. Refs helped them tremendously in that Tulane game to prevent a loss there with a very dubious call late in that game. OK could beat MN, sure, but they wouldn’t run rings around us.

Chip: Gophers' reluctance to embrace passing game this season remains baffling; Once a prolific passer Morgan has been reduced to a handoff specialist

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall some discussion that with the co-OC duties was that Simon was the passing game coordinator (ie, determines all pass plays we run) and Sanford was the ultimate decision-maker with regards to when a pass play is called, but wouldn't decide...

Totally agree on letting Simon go. Just completely awful and embarrassing. Love Morgan and know he's gone through a lot with his dad's death, but man, complete shell of what he was like in 2019. Give Simon the keys to the offense and let's give Annexstad a shot.

    Jayden Pierre

With the crystal balls a few days back to Providence, I'm assuming he isn't coming here. But, I'm a Ben fan and want hime to succeed, and would love nothing more than to silence those naysayers a couple of months back complaining that Ben hadn't landed a "top 150 out of state talent" yet in year 1.

    Jalen Suggs recent interview

Devil’s advocate… he had direct insight into the program through his brother. He might’ve wanted to have been a Gopher AND at the same time know Pitino wasn’t the coach for him.

Second play of the second quarter was the last time Miami could take the lead

Certainly got hairy in the 2nd half, but an interesting stat that we had the game somewhat in control.

Also sounds like the A&M QB went out with an injury and the backup is something like 10-25 with 65 yards. Good defense, sure, but perhaps also an unprepared 2nd string QB.

    FIRE OC

Absolutely not. Name one quarterback that’s come through the U that’s been better? I prefer not to revert to the QB play that we’ve been accustomed to in the past.

    FIRE OC

I do believe PJ goes into these games with a vanilla game plan. It’s unfathomable the offense that did what I feel was a pretty good job against OSU’s 4 and 5* D struggled against a likely mid-tier MAC team. They did the same thing in ‘19 before being a top-10 team. PJ’s teams struggle mightily...

From the article. The team didn’t spend 90-120 minutes just running. They spent 5-8. This is a silly thing to get worked up about.

Yeah, I doubt a mile run is having any negative effect whatsoever on 18-22 year old D1 athletes.

    Going Forward

Take week 1 with a grain of salt, but Iowa looked legit and other teams will improve. I think we’ll get to 9 wins, maybe 10 with some luck.

    JOSHUA OLA-JOSEPH A GOPHER!!

It was odd to me but Ola-Joseph answered without flinching and relayed the doctors saying he could get to 6’8”. Maybe it’s more common in the D1 front court prospect world.

This will be a good team.

My biggest concern going into the season and opening with OSU is that through the first 4 years, Fleck's teams have always started slow and steadily improve through the rest of the season. If this year follows the same pattern and last night was an indication of the worst the team will play all...

MN vs “B1G powers that be” game thread…

I don't think there's any grand scheme either. BUT, I do believe there's a psychological play here where refs feel the need to be EXTREMELY careful and second-guess themselves when calling fouls against the likes of OSU, Michigan, Alabama, etc. Especially when they're playing against the...

MN vs “B1G powers that be” game thread…

I don’t think it matters if it were the crown or not. It just needs to be forcible contact to the head/neck area against a defenseless player. I could be wrong though. Under that definition, Brown-Stephens wasn’t in a position to adjust/protect himself from the hit. It should’ve been called.

MN vs “B1G powers that be” game thread…

I don’t think it was a Mitch Leidner-level egregious call. But it was an egregious non-call. It just reminds me how stacked the deck is to beat OSU when things like that go uncalled.
