Right now, the focus is on beating Wisconsin and getting to the Big Ten championship game, but a share of the title is still something.

Eating our opponents - Northwestern Edition

I found a recipe for Wildcat, but it doesn't actually contain any wild cat. Ingredients 1 pound finely ground grass fed beef tenderloin- raw 1 teaspoon brown mustard 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1 teaspoon brandy 1 pinch salt, or to taste ground white pepper to...

It is Thursday...who is playing QB Saturday?

CBS Sports - NCAA punts on embracing gambling by rejecting national college football injury reports Yahoo! Sports - With the onset of legalized betting, could injury reports be mandated in college football? That's just a drop in the bucket. It's well-documented that the NFL's requiring injury...

AP: In Minnesota, everyone’s aboard the Gophers boat

Things have changed. I watched the Penn State game at Peppers and Fries and it was great to have a whole room cheering. It used to be that I could to a restaurant and ask to put the Gophers on and had to explain the concept. I remember trying to watch the game in a restaurant and some jerks...

It is Thursday...who is playing QB Saturday?

What you (or I) want is irrelevant to why the NFL does it.

Sid: Jerry Kill on coaching on sidelines again: “Just being down there, it’s amazing”

Jerry Kill's a good coach and he loves doing it. Maybe it's not the best thing for his health, but a lot of people risk a lot to do what they love. I see people climbing cliff faces, and my reactions is "nope!" but that's what they love doing.

    Gopher Bowl projection

If we go to the Orange Bowl, I could bring my family and we could drive down the Florida Keys. I was stationed in Homestead and I never made it all the way down the keys. If we went to the Citrus Bowl, I would bring my family and my wife could take our daughter to Disney World while I'm at the game.

It is Thursday...who is playing QB Saturday?

Nothing foolish about it. You don't give your opponent any more information than you have to.

It is Thursday...who is playing QB Saturday?

I have no idea, but if I did know, I'd keep Fleck's secret safe so Northwestern didn't find out.

The Gophers better watch out vs. the Cats

Sure, you have to take the same seriously, but this is a game the Gophers should win if they don't take a nap. Gopher Bowl projection

If I recall correctly, "freaking out" was an overstatement, and the issue fans had wasn't in playing Syracuse but that Gopher fans were hoping for a most prestigious bowl.

    Problem with Divisional Structure

If you base the division winner on the record within the division, then the games against the other division are essentially non-conference games.

    Media Predictions: Minnesota vs Northwestern

Northwestern's net punting is #112 at 36.06 yards per game. A combination of poor offense and poor punting could lead to good field position for the Gophers.

    Northwestern road trip

I wish I could make it, but I have other obligations in town that evening. I'm a little tempted to take an early flight Saturday morning, and then catch the 3:50 PM flight out back to Minneapolis, but that's crazy talk.

    Bowl projections and thoughts

Case closed, huh? I guess we might as well not even play the game. After all, upsets never happen, do they?

    Bowl projections and thoughts

Who decides which is the next best team in the Big Ten? Does the Rose Bowl decide, or they they use rankings? If the Rose Bowl gets to decide, they might decide an 11-2 Gophers team is a more compelling story than an 11-2 Penn State team. If anyone can sell the Gophers' story, it's Fleck.
