MinnPost Article on Scheduling (or why no Minnesota vs St. Thomas game yet)

Well, he's done a lot of losing, so maybe that's where the mentality comes from. For the record (and it isn't good), here is Ben Johnson in Big Ten games in his career: AS A PLAYER: 14-60 (.219) AS AN ASSISTANT COACH: 36-72 (.333) AS A HEAD COACH: 15-46 (.246) TOTAL: 65-168 (.279) 17% of...

***MORGAN ST AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Not necessarily a "bad beat," but not that far from it. Gophers led by as many 27 and had a 24-pt lead when Morgan State make a bucket with :38 seconds to make it 22. Gophers then hold it on purpose and take the shot clock violation so as to not "run up the score." If you had Minnesota -22.5...

U of M basketball scheduling (Men & Women)

Of course, I want to beat anyone we play. I look at Iowa-Iowa State and Wisconsin-Marquette a bit different as they are in-state rivals. As I said in another thread, I really don't have a hunkering to play Marquette and Iowa State every year. I don't care that much about them. To put it...

Minnesota offers UTEP linebacker Mo Westmoreland

Oh, yeah for sure. I know all the numbers, my dad had a CB, as well. My brother, sister and I used to get on it and have pretend conversations just to talk. It was wild. I think we called the names handles. Don't remember mine. I was mostly just messing with you, as I can't recall a...

U of M basketball scheduling (Men & Women)

Yeah, that is kind of my point. Why let another team from Wisconsin come in and play a game here every other year? Especially one that recruits this town hard. I'm not running away from the competition at all. I'd just rather schedule other Power 5 teams, that is all. If we never play...

U of M basketball scheduling (Men & Women)

I'm not all that worried. I am just less inclined to give them any additional publicity locally, etc. They hit this area hard. Like I'm not going to cancel my season tickets if we host Marquette every other year or anything. I don't have a huge hankering to host them, I don't particularly...

U of M basketball scheduling (Men & Women)

I'm less inclined to include Iowa State and Marquette in the schedule. They both recruit the Twin Cities very hard. We don't need one of them playing in Minnesota every year getting publicity and telling kids they will get to have a couple of "home" games if they come to ISU or Marquette. The...

Minnesota offers UTEP linebacker Mo Westmoreland

There is no 10/49 in CB talk. That's why I asked.

Minnesota offers UTEP linebacker Mo Westmoreland

I believe that ruling is the only reason he has eligibility remaining. He was basically gifted an additional year of eligibility by the ruling and the NCAA's follow up guideline.

Five Guys On A Shortlist: If the U Decides Change Is Needed, Aim High & Don't Be Cheap With That Big Ten Cash

Players get $20 million, not 20%. It is a fixed dollar amount that is the same at all schools to keep some parity in what schools are paying athletes. Ticket revenue has nothing to do with the revenue sharing number. The number could change year-to-year, but it will be the same number for...

a team the Gophs can beat?

Last Gopher team to make the NCAA tournament was that one. Six years ago now.

Five Guys On A Shortlist: If the U Decides Change Is Needed, Aim High & Don't Be Cheap With That Big Ten Cash

I think there are a couple of SEC guys who might jump to Minnesota if the situation/pay was right. Mississippi State head coach Chris Jans grew up 3 hours from the Twin Cities and has won everywhere he's been, including some of the lower levels where he has won BIG, including a national JUCO...

Five Guys On A Shortlist: If the U Decides Change Is Needed, Aim High & Don't Be Cheap With That Big Ten Cash

That's an interesting list, with some great candidates. I'm surprised Brad Brownell is #1 on your list. He's been to four (4) NCAA tourneys in 14 years at Clemson and as you said if not for a big buyout would have been fired at least twice. Not exactly the kind of guy who will blow people...

Five Guys On A Shortlist: If the U Decides Change Is Needed, Aim High & Don't Be Cheap With That Big Ten Cash

Based on the extension TJ signed in 2023, he is making at least $3 million/year right now, which is set to increase to $3.5 million in July. He just signed a contract extension this week that takes his contract through 2032, which likely includes more raises.

    Lindenberg Declares for NFL

Sori-Marin was not 1st team all-Big Ten. First team all-Big Ten in an 18-team power conference is incredibly impressive. Cody will be missed.

    Opting out of Bowl Games

It isn't 'just' the risk of injury anymore, either. It is the head start they get in training for the NFL draft. And, yes, the training can be difference making in that it helps with the specific NFL testing done at the combine and pro days. An extra month of that training can move someone up...

Courts rule JUCO doesnt count against eligibility

Someone like Brosmer should sue the NCAA and say after played FCS, they finally hit it big at FBS, and have no more eligible years. That rule also restricts their earning. Someone from FCS now playing FBS and out of eligibility will likely file a lawsuit within a week I would guess.
