For those complaining about being in a "cold weather" bowl game...

Actually, the Gophers under Fleck are a pretty good cold weather team. They seem to thrive in it -- kind of looking forward to getting USC or UCLA here in late November!!! I say ----- bring it on!!!!

    Greatest Gopher Collapses at Metrodome

Can you imagine the Vikings call-in show in about 90 minutes --- oh man is this going to be bad!!!!

    Greatest Gopher Collapses at Metrodome

Here's ANOTHER good one. Gophers vs. Utah 1990. Gophers drive for the winning FG -- if they make a fairly easy FG we win in the closing seconds ---- but NO!!! Utah blocks the FG attempt and returns it about 80 yards for a game winning TD in the closing seconds! Utah 35 -- Gophers 29. You can't...

What is your favorite rivalry matchup?

Me too!!! Fleck seems to take these bowl games seriously and has done pretty well in them. I still think the Outback Bowl win over Auburn was the best-coached game he and his staff has done here and I really liked the playcalling on both sides. Since it's the last game of the year it can really...

What is your favorite rivalry matchup?

I know the Ax, the Jug, the Pig and the Bell are important, but let's not forget our newest rivalry, the Syracuse Orange. The hatred has grown to a fever pitch and the rich pageantry over the years makes this a game for the ages. The boys will be in for a tough scrap in a couple weeks and I...

How does this class finish up?

Think about this one -- even though Ibrahim had a good year and I am glad we had him, we would be in a lot better shape if he had left and we had Irving and Thomas the next few years!!

Deion Sanders Replaces Mike Sanford as Head Coach at Colorado | Tim Brewster Likely Lead Assistant

I agree -- it really reminds me of when Lou Holtz came here, very similar situations but the Gopher situation was even worse off than the Colorado situation. (Just look at the scores from the year before the new coach took over!) I think it will be a similar result too -- I see Colorado...

    Mike Leach has passed away

Me too!! They could have had him after Brewster left but he was too controversial for the powers that be and they went with Kill. I do not feel at all bad with the Kill hire but Leach would have been very interesting here. I think he would have been very successful here!

Syracuse fans reacting to Minnesota fans reacting to playing Syracuse

Brilliant!!!! We already have the jug, the pig, the ax and the bell. Lots of clever ideas I am sure but maybe borrowing from the Stonecutters on the Simpsons we could have the Rock of Triumph for the winner!! (The loser could get the Rock of Shame.)

Syracuse fans reacting to Minnesota fans reacting to playing Syracuse

I think that is just what the doctor ordered here. Let's not forget, this was a very good defense this year. It would have been even better if we had put more pressure on the opposing QB's but statistically, this was one of our best years in modern, non leather-helmet wearing memory. It was...

Syracuse fans reacting to Minnesota fans reacting to playing Syracuse

I still remember Pinnacle CEO trying to convince people from Minnesota to move to Memphis. "I can not understand why anyone wouldn't want to live here in Memphis," he said. Unfortunately -- he was gunned down in Memphis less than a year later. I guess THAT'S why they didn't want to move down...

Transfer Portal Is A Dead End For Many

I think they really opened up the Pandora's Box with this one and there's no going back from here. Eventually, maybe they can get back to the one year penalty on transfers - that should discourage it a little bit.

    2024 NCAA Football EA sports

Ah yes, Reno was one of the all time movie greats! One time I went back to 1981 and renamed all the Gophers to those players -- then each year the recruits would be the next year's team's recruits.

    2024 NCAA Football EA sports

I do not know if having you raise NIL money to pay for players would be in any way fun at all for the game. I expect they will have to do something with an expanded recruiting function for transfer portal players though and I bet you will lose a bunch of players who aren't starters every year. I...

    2024 NCAA Football EA sports

A lot has changed since their last edition, but in the Summer of 2024 comes the long awaited edition for college football fans. I don't know how much will be changed to the Dynasty feature, but today's football has NIL deals and the transfer portal and I am wondering if you are going to...

Tubby Smith on Minnesota: "It may be the first or second toughest job in the Big Ten."

Funny, I never heard Jim Dutcher complain about how tough of a job he had here. Back then, Gopher basketball tickets were tough to get and the team was excellent every year. My how things have changed with a gradual progression downward with each hire over the last 40 years. Gotta give Ben...
