This is precisely why its more important for us (Minnesota). A chance to nap a top 10, let alone, number 1 ranked player in our back yard doesn't happen every year. At some point, we need to land one of these blue chip backyard guys. Rickert was basically the last player I remember landing...
Not directed at anyone specific, but how in the hell did anyone think we would be going to attend inside events like basketball when we havent been going to outside events and the Pandemic will not be over until long after hoops season? The level of surprise is, well, surprising?
I'm sure it will be refunded. We opted to have our entire football package payment for this Fall refunded, versus rolled into next year. They refunded 100% of what we paid, ticket and donation. I'm certain it would be the same for hoops.
We decided to punt on season tickets for hoops...
Him standing in the corner is what is he coached to do for that team and his role. It keeps the defense spread out for others and he can knock down the 3. He has made the most of his time, I am happy for him. He is still young but has the tools to make a long career as a role player. Keep...
There is a current vaccine, just in testing phase, actually a few. They are both in wide spread testing now, with hopes to be ready at end of year (which means to public early in 2021). Sorry, I didn't mean currently publicly available, but there are vaccines, just not ready for general...
You are correct to be confused. I am not sure folks understand how vaccines work (even if one arrives in January). Most, including this, may only be 50 to 70% effective. The current vaccine actually causes some strong sideaffects for a few days (adding to length). Lastly, healthy college...
Not sure why we are using past history to predict the process during a global pandemic? No prior year stats on transfers mean squat. The NCAA has already said that instead of granting a one time waiver for all, they will likely be more lenient to waiver requests this year due to COVID...
Its not as much about the students themselves, as they are lower risk for severe complications, its about cluster and community spread among students which then will cause it to explode in other communities (their homes when they visit, retail/bars, teachers,).
Sounds like he'd help a lot.. that said, I believe Alabama, Xavier, Pittsburgh, Kentucky, Creighton, Fresno State, Michigan and Arkansas have also reached out. He is a hot name, having just announced he will transfer.
I assume since we are in a once every 100 year Global Pandemic, being close to family is not a bad thing. Whether its approved or not, sounds more legitimate than most arguments. Given the competition for him and that we won out, seems logical that it truly was the factor.
With my wife working urgent care and seeing the impact of this crap (COVID) first hand, I can't envision going to games unless there is a vaccine or some sort of treatment, coupled with meaningful social distancing.
I don't think I will need to decide anyway, I highly doubt public health...
I would imagine this is a factor. Its pretty much a given in the medical/scientific world that COVID will make a comeback in the Fall/Winter (barring hail mary vaccine this summer). I would hate to have this the only reason, but it must be a factor. It would be if I was a parent.
For certain we will all have a new normal. Life won’t ever be quite the same. Problem is, without a vaccine or anti viral treatment, it will mutate (all viruses do) and keep rearing it’s ugly head. Highly doubt 50,000 people will pack into a stadium without some kind of medical solution.
He has a very valid point. I know some good doctors that believe a second wave will be somewhere between Fall 2020 and Spring of 2021. No vaccine means we won’t be out of woods for some time. Dr Fauci said the same in a recent interview.
All of these short term dates, Easter (cmon), April...
Easy, I miss thinking, digesting and stressing about stuff that's ultimately not important (sports). Ultimate diversion from our lives... Before COVID-19, we all had stress, but now its on another level and there is no diversion (or at least we need to find another one).
I miss the way the...
Not just the students. My section was talking about it and my 15 year old son (who plays high school basketball), was wiping tears from his eyes. So excuse some of us if we we're not on our game as fans to start the game.
He keeps playing like this, he may leave after next year. Not many guys can create their own shot AND make teammates look good as well. He has a bright future.
