Gophers entered this season with fresh faces. Now, they’re gelling, and that makes them dangerous

If the Gophers lose a couple games in a row, then I agree with Gabe being the sixth man. His shooting was not good last year and even worse this year. Around 28% FG and 18% 3P is a demotion out of the starting line up waiting to happen. If they keep winning, keep Gabe in the starting lineup.

2020-2021 College Basketball Other Games Thread

I agree. Carr is an All American and he has plenty of backup. You can't count the Gophers out in any BIG game this year. You can't guarantee a BIG victory either and thats why this year will be so intriguing. No doubt Pitino has put together a good team.

Shooter: Mohamed Ibrahim because he runs so hard is considered a late-round NFL draft pick in 2022.

The Safety #9 for Nebraska had a good angle but couldn't quite catch him or even trip him up from behind. Ibrahim doesn't have Bo Jackson speed but after breaking a couple arm tackles at the line of scrimmage on that play he showed a ton of burst to score the 20 yard TD.

Shooter: Former Gopher assistant Joe Esposito is head basketball coach at Cesar Chavez High in Phoenix, Ariz.

This is a job that Joe can be at for the next 20 years if he desires. They have a winning tradition in a conference that doesn't have any of the 6A monster teams. South Phoenix / Laveen has some talent but not the best in AZ high school basketball...yet.

Shooter: Mohamed Ibrahim because he runs so hard is considered a late-round NFL draft pick in 2022.

If Ibrahim doesn't get seriously hurt, he will be a draft pick next year. If it wasn't for the COVID year, I would be questioning if he isn't ready to enter the draft after this year. With each NFL team playing 2-3 RBs now, he can be an asset.

    Sori Marin and Wiley

I listened to the game on radio as I was outside hanging christmas lights (in Arizona) and just watched the 20 minute highlight video on youtube. I was thinking during the radio broadcast, Wiley has real potential at RB with good vision, size, and athleticism as a Freshman RB and the highlight...

Would a win against Auburn be bigger than the Penn St. win?

That's easy to say when the Gophers have won 3 straight bowl games. There was a time not too long ago when the Gophers lost 7 straight bowl games (I was at 4 of them) and there is pressure to win. Bowl games matter.

Hole Poll: What grade would you give the Gophers non-conference portion of the season?

I voted a C. A win over Utah or Depaul would have pushed it into a B- range. I included the two BIG games as pre season.

Would a win against Auburn be bigger than the Penn St. win?

The Gophers have beaten Penn State in 2 of the last 3 contests and had a 4 game win streak against Penn State in the early to mid 2000s. The win this year was a really good win but not a program changer. A win over Iowa or Wisconsin would be a better win in my book. I voted yes on this poll.

    Coyle’s order of operations

I don't know the answer to that question any more than I think a young 1st time head coach knows if he wants to coach in college. Money talks and if he has the "want to" in the idea of running a major college basketball program, then I'm betting that he would be successful. That's purely...

    Coyle’s order of operations

The U might be able to time the Pitino dismissal the same time as when Ryan Saunders will be at the end of his tenure with the T Wolves. Saunders would be a candidate in my book. Hopefully Saunders will help turn the T Wolves around and they make the playoffs this year, but if they tank...

I agree. I think that the University of Minnesota Head Coach Richard Pitino has developed under recruited players better than any coach since Clem Haskins.

    All Things Bowl Game Speculation

I am pulling for the Outback Bowl and believe the team this year deserves it. I stayed at the hotel in Clearwater in 2014 when the Gophs were at the Citrus Bowl but all the Outback bowl teams were there as the official hotel. (badgers were in it). It was a tropical destination for sure. Best...

    Faalele Injury

So your saying their is a chance?! He was stepped on by the TE Spann. Only 6-6 240.

    Faalele Injury

I can’t help but say the Faalele injury was a major blow to the gophers offensive attack. They ran almost entirely to the left side after his injury, which I believe minimized the Gophs options. Does anyone know how bad it is for him? Hopefully he will be back for the postseason practices and...

    Favorite Gopher football team

2014 with Maxx Williams and David Cobb. They had a chance to win the BIG West title against the Badgers the final game of the season and went to the first January 1st Bowl Game in forever (I was in Orlando for the game). I was at the Holiday bowl for the 2016 team but it didn't seem quite as...

Then we might have watched from a different point of view. The Gophers won the stacked Atlantis Bahamas tourney when Nolan was a SR (mostly due to his play) and then he got injured a couple games after that. They beat Wisconsin several time in his tenure, when the Badgers were really good. I...

I liked both. Mason was more of a 2 guard and Matthieu had a good junior year but neither come close to what Nolan was before he got injured as far as the drive and dish to a big guy or an open three. Plus his Defense was way better than either.

I don't understand why we haven't had a solid PG since, Minneapolis native, Al Nolen. If it wasn't for Al's injury his Senior year, we would be talking about him as an all time Gopher great.
