    Questions on offcial visits

When a player visits, do they get to work out with the tem and other recruits? Seems to me that would be the best way to gauge if a recruits deserves an offer. With the two bigs visiting together, it might be an interesting visit if they play against each other.

Kind of spoiler alert: Revolutionary Road is a very good movie but is so depressing it will ruin your week-end. I don't think I have ever left a movie feeling as bummed out as I did with RR.

    lemons from lemonade- Kill/Claeys/Teague

Right now, Minnesota has a national spotlight. Everyone, minus Souhan, has handled this very well and really humanized the program. If (and this is a big if), Claeys/Kill can win 3 or so, this will be one of big stories nationally. In fact this could lead to a stronger program in the end. If...

    2013 Beer gardens

How are the beer gardens holinding up with no Sally's? Is Stub and Herbs crammed? Any other options besides BWW?

    punting/ kicking

I thought mortell looked very good today. Didn't see last week but against UNLV he did not look like a Big Ten punter. Hopefully that continues. Hawthorne looks like he could be all big ten with a little luck. Big leg.

They were quasi-big in Canada. Saw them at Metal in the Park in 1983. They were really heavy, really early. it is kind of sad and inspirational- they never gave up on their dream. I think the documentary gave them a bit of a boost. "At least we have a tour to have things get f*cked up on". That...

webcam of Leafs fans as they blow game 7

Here is a link to a bunch of Leafs fans as they blow a 4-1 lead in the last 10 minutes of game 7 versus Boston. Note the almost complete resignation once it gets to be 4-3. Clearly, this is a fan based that has come to expect the worst. I post this on the football board as it has clear...

    Shortell?

Any word on his situation? A google search reveals little. Barker could be back, how about Max? Grass may not be greener for "former" Gophers.

    Is Teague the new Brewster?

Hope not but they seem to employ the same people to write their bios. http://www.gophersports.com/ot/ad.html

    Walker's comditioning?

General consensus is that Walker is not in good enough shape to play more than short spurts. Yet last night Nebraska played- and he played reasonably well- the fattest big ten basketball player I have ever seen. It worries me that Walker can't get minutes on this team. PS That big Brazilian...

    Preferred walk-on question

Is it just me or do the quality/ credentials of PWOs this year seem much higher than in years past? Perhaps they are just publicizing them more but this year's crop of PWOs all seem very close to being scholarship type players. Good to see.

    Monson vs. Tubby (record comparison)

Certain things are assumed as true on the Gopherhole. One of these "truths" is that the Monson program was a disaster. Yet if you compare them six years in, Tubby hasn't really seperated himself from Monson- and Monson had the sanctions to deal with and started with two dismal seasons. In...

Why no Mav in 2nd half?

Mav looked good in the first half (six points in six minutes) and we had huge issues with scoring. Seems to me, Given that Wisconsin is not athletic, Mav or Welch should have got a few minutes in the second half. Dre Hollins was the only O in the second half.

Deaspin article on national champions since 1950

People close to the program who have posted on Gopherhole

Gordie Shaw’s possible return to St. Olaf got me thinking about people close to the program who have posted on Gopherhole. Here is my by no means exhaustive and possibly erroneous list: • Gordie Shaw- Was on a lot on after being fired. Very hostile towards Brewster. I tihnk he finally got...

    Coaches and the QBs

Hard loss but yet one expected. Still I have to wonder. Second last drive, Gophers put in Q and pass 2 out 3 times. Why? If that is the plan put in Nelson. Our final drive (with score tied), coaches put in Nelson. Why not just put in Q and run three read/options and hope for a first down...

    After 9+ years...

I have finally had the strength to watch Michigan- Minnesota 2003. My take: it wasn't as shocking as I thought it would be. Michigan was within 7 with 12 minutes left. Final thoughts: *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#, *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#, *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#. PS: I can't look back again but I believe...

    Potential All Big Ten Gophers

Seems like Carter and Wilhite are locks though who knows which team. Hageman likely will get on there too. Other possibles might be Campion (has played well all year and injury free), Barker (injury makes this less likely), Kirkwood, and Stoudermire (has seemed solid, at least to me, at CB)...
