Will Schwartz be the only D1 talent left on the roster?

Yes, it's possible to buy a dominant pitcher for over a million. It's also possible to grind her into the ground pitching endless innings in a row to pursue that championship, which Stanford tried to do with her and now Texas Tech, too.

We see parallels all around us, don't we?

Anyone have ideas about a timeline for possible changes in Gophers staff or roster? Hate to say it, but my feeling is: No change = no chance.

Your points are quite good & statistically better supported than mine, but SG, AF, & AP came to campus all able to compete & win given proper support.

More important than 'developing' pitchers is recruiting ones who are already good when they arrive. Groenewegen was BigTen Pitcher of the Year as a freshman; Fiser went 13-1 as a freshman, and Pease beat FSU as early as February of her first year at MN. Good pitchers tend to be ready early.

Personally I can't see this coaching staff bringing in the level of needed on-field talent. I try to be optimistic, but.......

Demanding more from everyone is one thing, but finding players with enough talent to produce more/enough is an entirely different thing. Besides Schwartz, I don't see any player returning for 2026 with the talent to excel at a winning D1 level.

I attended Saturday and Sunday's games vs. MI. It was lifeless, unmotivated Gophers play the last 16 scoreless innings. It's a mystery how the program was allowed to drop to such depths in so few years. As of May 5 the roster is reduced to only one player of substance, Schwartz, who's capable...

I think Schwartz can develop more; she pitched well enough this weekend to win at least two games. On a really good team she'd be a fine #2 starter in the circle. The failure, as I see it, is the failure in 5 yr. as HC to bring in a single pitcher of elite caliber capabilities (except for...

I followed tonight's MN-MI softball game until it simply quit transmitting with MN up 4-0 in the seventh inning. Anyone know who won?

Great comments. Fielding a representative team in 2026 seems quite impossible barring some portal bonanza. Even if Schwartz and Susa pitch well, what offensive support will they get?

Trivia question: By my estimation Pitt and North Dakota have won 44 games between them, yet Gophers, from the bottom of the Big Ten, outscored them by 32-3 this weekend. How is that possible?

Anyone know why Chavez has not played in the most recent games and why her hitting has been down this season? Is she injured?

Interesting discussion about Nebraska, but Minnesota is what interests me since I live here. I can't see any hope for the Gophers program without an infusion of money, more super-aggressive recruiting, more in-game creativity (only 3 SB so far in 2025!!!?!), and pitching that dominates...

When coaches leave a very successful program and players leave what's been a very successful program or the gifted ones who stay show little or no improvement, wouldn't it seem likely the root of the problem lies within higher echelons of the Athletic Dept? It's possible to win pretty darn big...

Seems that errors cost the gophers yet another game? Even Chavez's usual brilliance has failed her a bit. I would add a charisma quotient of zero, but everyone here is surely already aware of what you say. The message should go more aptly to the AD, who most likely knows but doesn't care.
