Sources: Big Ten, SEC to talk possible scheduling partnership

I prefer the current SEC model by far. I'd rather have only 8 conference games and four non-con with two from P4 and two below (preseason) until something changes in NIL or revenue sharing to make the money and recruiting more equal. Where is Minnesota going to find wins otherwise? It is more...

    Brosmer

Iowa was like a warm up game for Michigan. Very similar teams. Iowa State is turning out to be a very good team and barely beat Iowa. I think Iowa vs. Michigan would be a toss up game. Too bad they don’t play this year. Heard Iowa returned 21 of 22 starters from last year. Seems like half...

MN v MI Post Game Thread: Gophers Ball Out in 2nd Half

I agree! Like many have said, it gives us the chance to wear out the opponent defense line and help our below average OL. It maximizes Brosmer's high QB IQ. I was very disappointed our defense could not stiffen up in the red zone early in the game. The turnovers sucked, but holding Michigan...

    Brosmer

I wish we had him another year too! I've thought that frequently. He's doing very well considering it's his first year running our offense, has a poor offensive line and below average receivers aside from Daniel Jackson. We might pick up some excellent WRs from the portal that would like to...

Keep in mind, the Gophers went 9-4 as recently a 2022. They were 5-2 at home, 3-2 on the road and 1-0 in neutral site games (bowl win vs. Syracuse).

I think you're right, but things could go better in other ways: 1) We figure out a way to use some of the TV money to pay players so we get a sort of salary cap floor in the B1G. 2) Our coaches get better at their job - head coach, DC, OC. 3) Our players get used to our completely...

Remember how different the posts were back then? How different our hopes and expectations were? It seems like a million years ago! Most of us were surprised by our bad 2023 and 2024 looks like it will be worse. I thought this would be a bounce back year! Not likely. I'm 51 and a life long...

    After 25 years… I’m out

I just watch and assume we are the underdog during most B1G games so if we win it's a bonus! I'm also not opposed to moving on to something else if things start to go bad. I do like your idea however. I'm sure tons of the lifelong Gopher/Minnesota sports fans on here have their various coping...

Adding insult to injury, took me 65 minutes to get out of parking garage last night

I also park a little ways away and walk. I figure with the beer and the fatty food, a 20 minute walk each way isn't bad and I avoid all the traffic.

Underpaying Coaches - Is this our top problem?

You might be on to something. Are some of the problems even above PJ's paygrade? Have we had high paid assistants before PJ? I don't know. I heard some other B1G programs cut a lot more sports than we have and just funneled all that money into football. Has anyone else heard this?

    No Debbie Downers thread

I agree with both of you, NotAFan and oldman, recruiting is an issue, but it's also coaching. Recruiting has always been an issue for Minnesota because we don't have a good recruiting footprint, but we're not the only Big Ten program with that issue. If you have poor recruiting, then you...

    No Debbie Downers thread

My main takeaway from the Gopher Gridiron podcast today was from former Gopher offensive lineman, Derek Burns. The Gophers do not have enough speed at receiver and their offensive lineman have trouble with slow feet. He said the best way to correct this is just better recruiting which...

Maybe I'm wrong, but this is how you know Fleck needs to go

I disagree! We went for and got a fourth down in our own end in the third quarter today (before the game was even out of hand) and threw the ball a ton today, just not effectively. Ha! We had over 200 passing yards to Iowa’s 62. We’re now trending towards level #2! Last year was 4 and a few...

    After 25 years… I’m out

I like PJ Fleck, but his seat is hot. He gets paid too much for it not to be. He works hard and cares about the kids, but this is a results business. The Gophers have been a tier II or lower program for all of their modern history. I’m not sure where the surprise is here? A lot of the best...

    Brosmer is not a stud.

Brosmer has a lot of experience, but not in our system or at this level. He looks good sometimes and bad at others. Too bad we don’t have him longer. He looks very good sometimes and seems like he could play well at this level. He just got here too late in his career. Our receivers don’t...

Tennessee to add 10 percent 'talent fee' to ticket prices to raise money to give to players

Tennessee just demonstrated how we can pay our players! Thank you! Just carve off 10% of existing ticket revenues and give it to players by calling it a “Talent fee”! I guess Tennessee can get away with charging their fans more because their team is doing better than it’s ever done before...

    Lincoln Kienholz -

If he wants to come and PJ is impressed by him, then we take him. Lindsey is still an unknown. We learned from the AK experience that we just don't hand people jobs, right? The more competition in the QB room the better, just like any other position. If one of them gets beat out for the...

Gopher Defense led by Hetherman Getting it DONE - Currently 5th in the NATION

Those missed tackles against NC may be because we played the top overall running back in the NFL draft in 2025 - Omarion Hampton. Half his yards this year are after contact and he has run for a similar number of yards as Iowa's Kaleb Johnson. Less than 25% of Kaleb's are after contact which...

Breaking: Iowa Favored by 2.5 Points Over Gophers at Minnesota ** UPDATE ** Iowa By 3 Now **

What I remember of NC's back is that he was super shifty! Kaleb looks strong and pretty fast, but he does not look shifty or overly quick. It doesn't mean he can't gash us, but they look like very different backs. My concern is can we handle the Iowa offensive line when they are run blocking?

Breaking: Iowa Favored by 2.5 Points Over Gophers at Minnesota ** UPDATE ** Iowa By 3 Now **

Kaleb Johnson was the #18 recruit from Ohio in 2022. It was funny watching some of his high school highlights because he is so much bigger than his competition. It looks like a fast lineman playing running back! I watched his highlights from the Iowa State and Akron games (see links below)...

P.J. Fleck on struggling offense: 'This isn't backyard football'

Brings back good memories doesn't it! Now that's a video game that I could identify with. Streetball 2025!!! I remember vividly yelling "Car!" over and over on those especially high traffic days. People driving to and from their homes had no respect for our playing field!
