All things Players Coming and Going.

There is only one player current or future that would be worth stealing from MTU with the coaching change. He's already on his second team and the Gophers don't recruit Russians so would likely end up elsewhere like PSU or UConn. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/527459/stiven-sardaryan

    Gopher Hockey Recruiting

Wendt is going to Tri City of the WHL. Not that Motzko would want to recruit a young Minnesotan goalie with a lot of potential.

Moe's original graduating class is next year too.

    Gopher Hockey Recruiting

I buy FF tickets every year to build my priority and get better and better seats every year (and easier to sell when the Gophers don't make it).

    Future Gopher Coach Discussion

Bringing in Moe a year early, leaves only three players in the entire pipeline all of which are mediocre and likely not Gopher hockey quality. Should have got him out this spring.

    Gopher Hockey Recruiting

Motzko is going to bring in Moe because he's too lazy to recruit the CHL. "Want to get older" but look at how young his class is lol. He also hurts his replacement by leaving three (average) players in the ENTIRE pipeline for next year and beyond: Katz/Reid/Grimes Here's your Gopher roster. Not...

I'd take him for a year to give Phillips a USHL year...

MSU flips a transfer flip to replace Jugnauth. They get the T4th highest scoring D in the portal this year. https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=227105 Not an even swap but must be fun to have a very active recruiting staff

LMAO at undercutting winning a title, the thing Motzko has never and will likely never be able to do. Ferschweiler and Carle are better hockey coaches, which is why NHL teams are interested in them and not Motzko.

I know you might be new to college hockey but his career record is 0.538 including a transition year. There's a reason he's the hottest name outside of Matt Carle and the WMU coach, but you wouldn't know.

Well ya he should have been let go already.

Other than maybe Lakovic, you know how Motzko is... He'd be more likely to pull a 2005 from the CHL for this year than a draft eligible. So I don't think we should be waiting for that. Problem is most of the 2004/2005s are taken as we've watched more and more of them (many NHL drafted) commit...

There's a reason he was basically consensus the best player left in the portal as it closed. He's got huge upside as a 4 year college player. I'd take another Leon Bristedt in the middle six which what he'll likely be. Maybe 20 points next year then 30-35 then 35-40

All things Players Coming and Going.

Zetterberg would be middle six if not top six on the weak Gopher roster as it sits

He will have a better career there than Nevers or Reid will have here. He would have been an upgrade to the pipeline.

All things Players Coming and Going.

Zetterberg to Mankato lol, the last player in the portal that would have made the Gophers better for three years.

UND about to get this kid. Top scoring 2008 in the WHL. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/884684/cooper-williams Motzko still has one recruit he actually found instead of poached in the last 14 months.

If Minnesota's NIL is as weak as I think it is compared to BC/BU/UM/MSU/PSU, no coach is going to get those guys so I'll take the guy that's not already at retirement age.

All things Players Coming and Going.

The point is he getting solid players at Maine so he could obvious pull bigger guns at U... And he's pulling draft picks (and this guy has AHL experience...). He will have a bigger impact this year than a guy like Kvasnicka, Nevers, and probably Moore.

Barr continues to lean into the CHL as he understands modern recruiting https://x.com/MarkDivver/status/1921984083887804671
