It appears an undefeated college football team ranked in the top 30 of the AP Poll just lost its starting quarterback ... because of an NIL dispute.

Absolutely - Get a salary cap, come down hard and punish 'illegal money' - essentially NIL. Make it a step further. Free transfer after your second season and after you graduate. It is sad, but once you are at a school there should be at least a 2 year commitment. How do. you even build a...

Underpaying Coaches - Is this our top problem?

I honestly don't know what our problem is but I do think you need to start at the top and the top is the university as a whole. Football is a bit of a different beast but if you look at basketball there is absolutely zero reason we aren't one of the best programs in the Big Ten, if not the...

Dang, I coached vs Tim for a few years. Great guy. His son was a heck of a player for them as well. Is there a caring bridge or anything?

    Perich at safety

He didn’t play any series, but seems like he was in on most 3rd downs and medium-to-long yardage situation. I agree with you I wish he would play more but also think they are easing him in. He was a bit behind not having spring ball and dealing with his hamstring issue.

What grade would you give the Gophers coaching in the loss to Iowa?

I’m not ready to fire PJ, but getting close. I would go back 15-20 years… firing Mason wasn’t the wrong decision, hiring Brewster was the wrong decision. There are a lot of good coaches out there. At the end of the day if your school is in the Big Ten or SEC you are automatically one of the...

    After 25 years… I’m out

You have to chill out. At the end of the day, after all the BS of how bad we played, I was able to take my 8 year old to the game on a beautiful Saturday night, tailgate with friends and family, etc. once you realize the sun is coming up tomorrow, it was a good night. With that being said, PJ...

Yahoo Sports: Always Rivalry Week: Iowa, Minnesota, and one of college football’s great trophies

I love this. As much as I am not a fan Ferentz he knows how to win and coach his team. It feels like every year they are a better team in November than they are in September.

This Iowa game is a BFG

This is actually a perfect recap of the Minnesota/Iowa rivalry. Hope his score is wrong - but both teams HATE beating each other and will try nearly everything to lose the game. Lots of fluke plays in the past - best running back in recent school history having a career game and fumbles in the...

Fantastic column from Chip: Football Across Minnesota: Chip Lohmiller, our most-famous kicker, now plays quarterback

It always surprises me that people live normal lives after they hang up their helmet. Reminds me of being a kid and seeing your teacher at the grocery store... like a "you live a normal life too?" moment. Would be fun to have some alumni recognized every game. There is enough of them...

Fleck doesn't think last year's fair catch fiasco adds any juice to Iowa showdown

I don't think he was comparing North Carolina to Iowa. I think he was comparing the Iowa 2024 game vs. the Iowa 2023 game, etc. I think just the fact that it is Iowa vs. Minnesota, Floyd of Rosedale, National TV, etc adds all the juice you need. The whole return and invalid fair catch call is a...

Tennessee to add 10 percent 'talent fee' to ticket prices to raise money to give to players

Oklahoma State wanted to do it. They wanted to have a QR code on the back of their helmet, but the NCAA decided they would put their foot down on this. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/41070382/ncaa-bars-oklahoma-state-placing-nil-linked-qr-codes-helmets

Tennessee to add 10 percent 'talent fee' to ticket prices to raise money to give to players

Sounds ridiculous but no different than what we do. I would much rather have my mandatory donation go towards NIL than whatever scholarship program it goes towards. It is hard being a fan. In my entertainment budget I have Gopher tickets plus a mandatory donation. Add in a few 100 dollars for...

Gophers 63rd best team in the nation per The Athletic Rankings.

That may be accurate on the season as a whole but I really like the way the season is progressing. Offense has been playing offensively vs. defensively. How different would the season feel if we make 1 of the 2 field goals vs. North Carolina? 3-0 sounds a lot better than 2-1.

    Koi cheering section

Every time he is on the field it just feels like a big play is about to happen. Watched him play safety and ran about 40 yards across the field to stop a Nevada receiver for a short gain on a 3rd down yesterday. Quickly becoming my favorite Gopher!

Which Team do you hate more Iowa or Wisconsin?

I hate the Packers more than Iowa and Wisconsin combined. I can’t stand Iowa. Seems like their traveling fans are the worst… interestingly enough I have had great experiences in Iowa City.

That is exactly what I was thinking as well. Transportation costs are through the roof - especially when you have to split teams/programs to get the games in.

Not sure if transportation is being used as an excuse to justify the move, but I'd be willing bet that transportation costs is the most expensive part of any athletic budget in the metro area.

    Gophers Week 2 Uniforms.

Think of all the knee injuries and football... they are almost all ACL, MCL, PCL, Knee Dislocation, Miniscus, etc. A knee pad isn't going to do a single thing regarding those injuries.
