There was an old guy I liked. I think it was Dr Don. Passed a few years back.

Well, actually, the guy he knew wasn’t from Minnesota, but he did spend a few months of his summers at a cabin north of the Twin Cities, when he was 12 and 13. Which of course will do!

MN HS Basketball 2024-25 Season thread

It was travesty in the 90s. We had two classes, then We got the sweet 16, which at first I was upset. Then watched it and said hell yes. The folks at MSHL made a big to do over it not being fair for New London Spicer. And Minneapolis North winning both years. Then right to 4, not back to two...

Former Michigan OC Matt Weiss has been indicted and … woah. He’s accused of doing this for eight years.

Interesting. With 850k annually he could have bought a lot of playboys. Or probably could have had tons of onlyfans subscriptions. He Had to engage in a complex scheme to view nudie pics…. Damn fool.

Marcus article: Gophers are hiring while Big Ten men’s basketball has zero Black head coaches again

The AP's statistical analysis is too simplistic to draw any conclusions. There are implied assumptions that are clearly incorrect. I think there is a generic issue at heart, as well as, some ones specific to this issue. Generically I think one reason is likely due to the Legal community...

Not an apt comparison. In the hypothetical you’d be buying the solution you believe would work. Your return is pride. That’s why its an eccentricity. And in that instance I’m creating additonal conditions attached to my “gift.” I’m not letting Coyle just play budget politics. I’d be...

So are you saying you could do something but you won’t, because you’d rather complain they won’t do what you want?

The University of Notorius Cheaters (UNC) Makes the Dance

Looking at the resumes of these teams; and NET rankings. 1) NET rankings overrate some bad teams. There are way too many teams in the tourney. Cut the last 4 bullshit. 64 has produced some fun, but it legitemately too many. Since its fun we should keep it as that.

All Things 2024-25 College Basketball Coach Fired/Hired/Retired Thread

Omaha is the easiest Airport to get through that is in a Big City. At least that I can recall. Way better than Detoilet, MSP, and say a Penn St. Get there 45 mins early with a rental. You can get in, through security. Get food. And still have to wait because no one else is flying. And they’re...

All Things 2024-25 College Basketball Coach Fired/Hired/Retired Thread

I really hope Ben McColloum remembers what it’s like for a College Basketball player not to receive an offer from the hometown school. Picture him in the Iowa AD’s office, pen in hand. Paper spread on the table out in front. He goes in to sign, and then - beth’s hooror as she reads it….. And...

The University of Notorius Cheaters (UNC) Makes the Dance

Interesting. I’ll take your word for this as I haven’t looked… and would rely on @SelectionSunday unimpeachable opinion anyhow. There is a payment schedule for participating teams that last 7 years (I think) after the tourney from the NCAA. That could make this a much larger issue.

    2025 Transfer Portal Watch

I know John Wooden came to believe that. He had a ton of conference/local success with his culture and was looking at a bad year in 1963-64. His assistant Johnny Norman convinced him to switch to Zone Press to match his team. They’re tallest guy was 6-7 (i think). Obviously height was a much...

The Case for Niko (aka Niko’s Case)

I would actually say pre Thorson that describes the school better under Ed Cassidy. Always in the State Tournament and just blew people away with offense. Thorson brought Motion Offense and Strong Defense. It was quite the change at first, because they were used to a dominating games...

De La Salle was absolutely known for Defense under Thorson. As were players he developed. Including Gabe K, Alan Anderson and a ton of others.

What is easier? Getting to a bowl game, or making the NCAAs?

In Football you can choose 3-4 easy teams to get to your 6. They all count the same. In basketball you get punished if your wins are too easy. There are 68 men's bball out of 352 that make NCAAs. about 19%. In foosball it is 84 bowl teams out of 134 (72 bowl teams + 12 playoff teams). That is...
