All Things 2026-207 Minnesota Wild

I don't know how much truth there is to this but this would be absolute suicide for the Wild. Boldy at $7M AAV for the next 4 years is the only possible way the Wild will survive the KK97 contract and what could be a ridiculous contract for Hughes (saw someone speculate the Hughes deal could be $18M AAV?)

there is zero chance we're trading Boldy. BG loves Boldy's game

The Chicago Blackhawks have officially agreed to terms on a massive six-year, $75 million contract extension with defenseman Bowen Byram, carrying an average annual value (AAV) of $12.5 million

Zucc signs with LA
On a 1 year/$1 million plus bonuses contract…

I’m sure that has Russo doing a victory lap given the very public information regarding the negotiation of Kirill’s contract and how Zuccy signed for the actual difference between the first offer and the final agreed upon amount.

Not a great offseason so far. Paying the Russian 17 million and needing to pay Hughes 18 million is gonna be an issue.

Sounds like a deal for the aging Anders Lee was THIS close....

Are these guys any good?
i like coleman. solid middle/bottom 6 guy who kills penalties really well. strong playoff experience with a couple Cups as a producer

Maatta should be solid in a bottom pairing role. he also kills penalties which we need with this D core given Quinn does not

More posturing, but wouldn't be surprised if Detroit ends up keeping Larkin.

Unlike a lot of NHL teams, Vegas typically makes most of their impactful moves in Feb/Mar around the trade deadline instead of July. Not sure how bad the Wild want to acquire Larkin at this point in time or if they are willing to up their offer

i suspect he holds him and either they werenski this thing or he gets moved at the deadline when Detroit goes into full on rebuild mode. it's easier salary cap wise for a lot of teams that way (like Vegas) given can retain salary and you only take on a portion for the year anyway

that all changes if Larkin opens up his list as think Montreal, Philly, Utah (or even Columbus for like Fantilli) have more that Detroit would be interested

Holy shit. There are offer sheets and there are offer sheets. This puts the Ducks in one heckuva position.

That reminds me of playing the game Zillionaires with the kids bidding up something you don't want to buy and then dropping out so the other person is on the hook for it.

It happens almost every year in our Fantasy Football auction where an owner tries to bid up a guy they really don't want to get other teams to spend their Cap space and end up getting stuck with them.

I always nominate players for bidding that I have no interest in to get other teams spending their cash but there's no risk in that.

There's a little of that going on here but really, I think it's a strong move by Philly. Sure, $18M AAV for Carlsson right NOW is an overpay, but he's a ridiculously young Center, just entering his prime and it would not take long for this contract to look pretty solid. And if not, at least they took their swing

And yes, I love that it puts a good f*cking on Anaheim; just when they return to any semblance of a good team, they have some major contracts to pay out in Carlsson and Gauthier, among a few others. They already watched Trouba and Carlson walk in FA off defense.

Oh I agree...I have no doubt PHI really wants him and is making it difficult for ANA to match the offer.

Trouba is addition by subtraction. Has been for awhile

The Ducks matched the offer.

I just saw that too. Damn. How in the world does Cutter Gauthier take less than that after seeing Carlsson get paid?

I would laugh my ass off if someone swooped in and threw an offer sheet at Gauthier for anything within shouting distance of what Carlsson just got. A couple of contracts hitting the books for $15M+ would absolutely cripple the Ducks

Scratch that: Gauthier is NOT eligible for an offer sheet with his RFA status.

Carry on
