All Things 2026-207 Minnesota Wild

Holy shit, there's no end to how ruthlessly the VGK run their franchise. Just when he was slated for a huge payday after two consecutive years of 35+ goals at $1.85M, Vegas trades leading goal scorer Pavel Dorofeyev (my favorite player).

Have to believe something big is coming. Been a really busy day of trades and activity already!

makes a ton of sense for both teams as they couldn't really afford him and this deal lets the Rangers have him to sign rather than possibly get burned on an offer sheet

obviously vegas has room as Pietrangelo's contract is going to come off, but they need to resign Andersson and retool the forwards a bit while considering making room for some of their AHL talent anyway (Connelly for example).

He's a really good scorer, but Dorofeyev is going to get overpaid. Half his goals are on the PP

My jersey curse continues. It's literally one of the craziest phenomenons I've ever seen. Vikings, Twins, Raiders, Cardinals, VGK, if I buy a player jersey (mine said "SCOROFEYEV"), that player is doomed.

Doro needs elite distributors, as I said before. He doesn't create his own shot. He's an absolute sniper, sharp shooter, one of the more elite shooters that I've seen, but yes, the Rangers will overpay for him. Vegas can likely replace the production (or at least the impact) with someone that has a smaller contract.

Vegas may not even keep that #26 pick tonight, it's very possibly in play for someone like Larkin or another big fish.

this would not at all surprise me

Michael Russo maybe breaking something right now. Stay toon.

The race for Larkin SEEMS to be down to Minnesota and Vegas and one would think it would all shake out sometime in the next 72 hours or so?

I think the Wild NEED Larkin more than Vegas does, particularly considering the lack of depth for the Wild at the Center position. So I could see Guerin (feeling his oats after his GM trophy) overpaying for Larkin. After giving up a huge boatload of assets for Hughes (basically four 1st round picks), it will be interesting to see just how much the Wild have to offer.

By all accounts, Detroit has been unimpressed with the offers so far and has claimed/bluffed that they have no problem going to camp with Larkin if they don't get what they want.

I don’t think Detroit is bluffing. Feels like they try hold out for Wally having moved Cossa.

I thought the reason Wallstedt wasn’t a fit for Detroit was because they had TWO young goalies. Cossa was the worse performing of the two.

The other one is Augustine who hasn’t even played ahl and is a ways out. Wally would be their nhl starter. Postava has only played one year in the AHL and their nhl goalies suck

No way the Wild give up Wally without getting Cossa back, and now that Cossa is gone I think Wally is off the table. We can't go into the upcoming season without a single NHL goalie on the roster.

I mean I hope not either, but would assume that move goes with us signing a vet to hold the fort until gus comes back and they split. Good number of cheap vets out there right now

So all of the comments about Wallstedt not fitting into a trade for Larkin were essentially BS?

They logistically make vastly more sense now with Cossa being moved. I don’t think they make sense from a wild standing personally

Having watched Larkin for many years since I live over here, I have no interest in him. Soft player, no way would I part with Wally for him. I personally don’t think he makes the Wild better.

I guess I don't understand this really. The guy is going to be 39 years old before the 2026-2027 season starts, what exactly is he "pissed" about?

no idea what his dollar amount was, but i don't see how you could pay him $4mil again. Productive guy on the PP but you've got younger guys or those with low contracts who need to take on bigger roles. Could see it if his dollar amount was about half of that or if we could move Spurgeon or Brodin and make some room, but that dollar amount is too high to make it make sense right now

I look at the Cap Wages site a lot and according to AFP Analytics, whatever that is, Zucc could cost 1 year, $5.8M; that seems kinda ridiculous really

Semi-Wild related, I did see one blurb the other day that Tarasenko could be a bargain pickup for the VGK to fill out their bottom 6 if the Wild don't make a move in the next couple days. The same source I mentioned above shows Tarasenko at 1 year, $3.4M

Didn't think so...thanks for confirming. Any chance of a S&T to get some value back?
Neither are rfa so doubtful unless someone wants to try nab them pre FA. Dont think either is that high a priority out there someone will want to do that

This continues to be the consensus but I really don't know if I see Vegas in on this move, as shocking as that would be for Vegas fans as Vegas is almost always in on the shiny, flashy bright objects. Everything I'm hearing says they are more than likely not really in on Larkin.

And I still think Guerin overpays for Larkin because the Wild really DO need a difference-maker at the Center position.

An related to wild news, werenski just rejected going to dallas

I don't know how much truth there is to this but this would be absolute suicide for the Wild. Boldy at $7M AAV for the next 4 years is the only possible way the Wild will survive the KK97 contract and what could be a ridiculous contract for Hughes (saw someone speculate the Hughes deal could be $18M AAV?)
