Moderators of this forum, can we make this a World Cup thread? It will be over soon. Once every four years, 32 years since the last WC in the US.

The games are packed, the atmosphere is amazing. Watching big time international soccer in the summer is just chef's kiss.

Living here, it was incredible to see my neighborhood last night during the Spain - Austria game. Absolutely silent, nobody outside. Eruptions and music and horns during the goals. You can hear the outdoor watch parties in the distance.

I'm the stereotypical American who thinks ... there's just not enough scoring.

And honestly the soccer I have watched elsewhere looks better outside the World Cup, it's kinda obvious these are cobbled together teams who aren't all that well coordinated / haven't been together very long.

I just can't get into it much 🤷🏼‍♂️

Wow. Just the opposite here. Have been watching ridiculous amounts of soccer since it started. Probably the most talented US team ever (on paper) too.

For me, it's even more the overall lack of scoring threats. There's maybe 20-30 shot attempts per game combined with only a few of them being on net. That is not a lot of action.
