All Things 2026 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

I'm not ripping Shelton, I'm just saying it's a transition that should be made. They essentially did that last night.

If there's a blowout, let Bonda or the random 39 year old they called up this week pitch until their arms fall off.
I realize now that you’re probably discombobulated today, as both the Wolves and Wild closed out in six and the Twins also won - Yikes

Saints won last night too.

Earlier tonight at Coors Field, Braves vs Rockies.

Epic game, though sad for Rockies fans.

Jumped the Braves in a 5 run 1st, tacked on another in the 2nd. Still up 6-1 in the 7th, Colorado turned it over to their bullpen.

Bravos tied it in the 8th en route to an 8-6 comeback victory.

Great ballpark and vibe in the surrounding the neighborhood.

More details via MLB’s Matthew Leach -

Emmanuel Rodriguez, the Twins' No. 4 prospect and No. 64 in the MLB Pipeline Top 100, sustained a left thumb injury sliding into first base for Triple-A St. Paul on Friday night. He was removed from the game. …

————————————————-

He’s still head first sliding into bases🤦‍♂️. The last time he hurt his thumb he did it sliding into second base - learn your lesson young man.

That us a sign of an undisciplined professional . You ain’t Nick Punto, that was one of his skills to stay in the Bigs, you got a completely different skill set and may not be as nifty a base runner as you imagine.

His grandma lives next door to my folks. It's a proud day for her.
cool story about his journey especially as he wasn’t even a Top 30 prospect at one point last year.

MINNEAPOLIS – The Twins have suffered another injury in the one area where they can least afford it. Right-handed reliever Cole Sands has been placed on the 15-day injured list with what the club is calling a mild right forearm strain.

Righty John Klein (Twins No. 20 prospect), a native of the Twin Cities who grew up a Twins fan, was recalled to take Sands’ roster spot. When he appears in a game, it will be his Major League debut.
Sands, 29, has had mixed results this year but is one of manager Derek Shelton’s most trusted late-inning, high-leverage pitchers. He was the first Twins pitcher to get a save this year and has the third-highest average leverage indexof any Twins reliever this year.
“Anytime someone gets injured, it hits you a little bit because you care about the person too,” Shelton said. “It’s a situation where we just have to get him back healthy. It gives us another opportunity, and we’ve talked about, when guys get hurt, there are going to be opportunities. Now we’re giving John Klein an opportunity. In Cole’s case, it’s disheartening for him because he’s been throwing the ball well for us.”

Sands said he felt discomfort while warming up Thursday night. He shut it down and underwent an MRI on Friday, which led to the diagnosis of a forearm strain.

“Anytime you go get imaging, there’s going to be some concern,” Sands said. “And there was definitely some concern on my end. But, yeah, it was kind of one of those things where you check those boxes. Obviously, you feel a little bit better about it. … It was probably some of the better news you could have got out of the whole thing.”

For Klein, the promotion is the latest step in a rapid rise. He wasn’t even ranked among the Twins’ top 30 prospects entering last season, but a strong season at Double-A Wichita earned him a promotion to St. Paul, and during the offseason, he was added to the 40-man roster. He showed flashes in Spring Training, and now he’s on the roster of his hometown team.

Not sure he'd get claimed at this point.
Or he might🤷‍♂️

Regardless, he had an excellent second half last season and guys who don’t have that much natural ability, yet keep grinding are my favorites🤠

Bullpen blows it again. If only they were able to develop a few reliable arms out there on longer, team friendly deals, they'd be in much better shape.

Reds walk 6 consecutive batters in what was a close game

Edit: and now a MLB tying 7 walks in a row

There are too many players on this roster who should not be in the major leagues. Bonda, Luis Garcia, Wallner. And Josh Bell should not be playing every day much less batting 3rd/4th. If you're going to suck at least play guys who will be here in 2027.

Never a doubt. Finally a hard hit ball found a glove that turned into a game ending double play.

The first 1 run of the year by the Twins, the last MLB to accomplish that in 2026.

😲

I must agree. I was in the middle of trying to watch it on delay and when it ended it just stopped. WTF. Get it together.
I had that happen on a college hoops game a few months ago.

Very little chemistry on the booth as well today.
