Thoughts on 2026?

So there more talented because some internet jack off gave their recruits a slightly higher decimal point. Lol if you want to call them wagon because they might have gone 3-6 with our schedule you go on ahead
Slightly? Any by every recruiting service they were ranked significantly higher.

I’m NOT saying they are a way better team, only saying they are more talented, there is a difference.

Also - what does calling them wagon mean?

You didn't start out by saying they are more talented. Back in post #117, you said "Agree, that (Mississippi State) will be a tough game. They are talented." I think you should have just stuck with that. Both teams likely have similar talent levels which means they will be a tough game. I totally agree.

You were replying to USAF saying:

"Mississippi State is embarrassing?
We might not even be favored."

I think we'll be favored only because we are playing at home so maybe 3 points. We barely beat Rutgers, Purdue, and Michigan St, the absolute bottom of the B1G, and were outgained in those wins and most of our others. We lost to Cal. We only led a 5-7 Buffalo team 13-10 entering the 4th quarter. We got absolutely blown out by any team near the top of our conference. I see no evidence in our schedule anywhere that would suggest we're going to dominate any P4 team.

Do I think we have a chance at being better next year? Of course! So does every other P4 team.

Gophers miss state may actually be a good barometer of if the middle of the big ten is better than the bottom of the SEC

Minnesota clearly in the middle.
0-3 vs top third
1-1 vs middle third
4-0 vs bottom third

MS State very clearly in bottom of SEC

But both teams will be different next year

We need some running backs. Emmett Johnson made Walter Camp 2nd team All-America - if we'd had him all year, with Darius when healthy, our record might have been 9-3.

They got to play Arkansas and Florida but spin away

They went .500 in those two games (both on the road) so additional opportunities playing the likes of the Big 10 in bottom feeders suggest they might have won a couple more.

Miss St also accomplished something the Gophers did not, scoring a conference victory away from home.

they also had a good win vs Arizona State

The more you look at their resume and the gophers the more similar they are. MN having a little lighter schedule (which is strange because they played 3 non conference cupcakes)

I’m totally missing your point?

I don’t think Florida is comparable to Purdue or Michigan State
Definitely on par with Mich State, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Maryland, Nebraska. No question. 14 conference wins in 5 years. One winning season in 5 years.

How has that talent played out on the field?

Agree

Probably better than Purdue!

So you expect us to beat them no problem next year?

Going to Washington?

Supposed to be one of the best venues to take in a game, too bad it’s at the end of the season and not closer to the beginning.
I’m trying to recall when I kept better track of weather in Seattle, but the dampness rather than temperature
No, you're not an idiot because a true idiot would never say "I'm an idiot."
Like Taylor Swift, I thought the first step was admitting I was the (problem) idiot.

Sorry to go back in time a bit, but once bowl season ends, I basically drop all football related content and jump into my hockey season fandom. So, now that Spring practice is over, it was time to take a look at the upcoming season, as I wanted to look at what PJ's final damage was in the portal (I think they did a great job by the way considering out budget limitations) and took a look at the final B1G Recruiting rankings for 2026. That 7 spot looks pretty good for Minny, however, it was the bottom two spots that put the smile on my face.

So, I wasn't surprised by Wisky, but does anyone understand what the hell has happened to NEB? They're last in the B1G by a mile. Their final overall ranking is 80th in the nation (High School Composite + Portal), which is Arkansas State territory. Did I miss something that they had finally surrendered and admitted they are a Volleyball & Softball school? Man, it won't take much time for the program to crumble with those numbers (11 total high recruits).

Where can Nebraska recruit from anymore? They only got Raiola due to a family connection.

11 total recruits is why their class is so low. They've done pretty well in the portal this year.

I think we're really seeing different strategies. Some programs are not focusing a lot on HS players anymore, instead much more in the portal.

According to Wolverines Wire, Nebraska also was ranked #2 in the conference in returning production.

Gophers were ranked #3. Iowa was ranked last (maybe we have a chance this year).

I used to post on the nebraska board, so I went to check it out again. One of the recent threads was about how Iowa Western CC had 6 players drafted (that had transferred up to P4), none of whom went to nebraska and they are upset about not getting community college transfers.

Pretty dire over there, yet they still are saying they shouldn't be getting embarrassed by the "Goofers" lol. They still can't accept we passed them by haha.

I think that is just ranking the percentage of returning players, not how good they are. Here's what I can find, it seems to be referring to that idea:

Nebraska is 3, but Georgia is 8 and Oregon is 11 and Ohio State is #31. I don't think anyone would argue Nebraska's roster is even in the same stratosphere as those schools.

Iowa ranked last in the B1G is because they had 7 players drafted.

The Wolverines' article took the info from ESPN. I was talking about Big Ten only.

Yeah, but the ranking is based on the percentage of players coming back, not how good they are. Nebraska is high only because they kept a lot of players (from an average team).

I think replacing both Raiola and Johnson is a pretty big task for Nebraska. Colandrea is good and can be a threat when running, but I don't think he's as pure a passer as Raiola. I don't know if running back will be a plug-and-play for them, but Johnson did well there.

The discussion I responded to was about Nebraska having a significantly smaller number of freshmen recruits than most other conference teams. I was simply adding a reason about why that might have occurred. My remark wasn't a prediction about the success of Nebraska's 2026 team.
