As for the last nail in the coffin that is Perich's Minnesota experience, if this reporting is true we actually now have a $$$ value willing to be paid by a fully-funded, top-tier program for a player with Koi's potential. I don't believe there is any way Minnesota can operate at that level for one player.

For Bucky, the potential we saw on the field at TCF indeed was real but we only could speculate on his Oregon contract and what he left for.

Also speaking of Bucky, the perception during the season was that he had some annoyance around nicknamegate. That annoyance however probably ended up being a very small consideration with the $$$ being far more prominent with his decision to transfer. My recollection is that unlike our current QB, Bucky came from more modest means that made the immediacy of the payoff very attractive.

Anywho, goodbye Koi and good luck. Haven't checked the schedules but here's hoping has has a prominent role in his time left contributing to beatdowns of I-O-W-A, Sconnie, and Nebbie.

I totally believe now it was about money and lots of it was tongue in cheek, but I remember it was brought up by some people. I do not believe it though. It was the almighty dollar...

I thought the Bucky/Bucko thing came up before he had the chance to transfer. Like, once he started playing good enough to keep getting on the field, it seemed people started the nickname change. But he totally finished out the season with that nickname - if it would have bothered him I'm sure he would have talked to his teammates about it, right?

Is that common in sports after high school? As a grown man, I'd have a hard time showing respect like that for someone unless it was reciprocated when I entered a room he was in.

A guy from a no-name online publication claimed all these things with "anonymous sources" a few years ago. Multiple other players that were not afraid to hide behind being anonymous said it was all largely untrue and very misleading. A few said they did stand and clap at times but it was meant to wake them up and get their attention.

If even a third of the things that were claimed in the article were true, we'd be hearing a lot more about it.

Naturally the article also interviewed Hsu.

Agree, even if you don't make the NFL or struggle to catch on in the NFL investing $2 million when you are 20 years old will be looking pretty good when you are 50.

A quick google search estimates in 30 years you'll have $15-35 million saved.

No one under the age of 23 who receives $2-million is “investing” $2-million.

I think he is saying for big time NIL money. Daniels could maybe be in that boat too but Booker barely played here, Dixon had 6 starts, and Bishop wasn't a guaranteed starter going into his senior season with us.

Might have lost those guys primarily over playing time or role on team? I think PJ was talking about straight up financial l
over-bidding that couldn’t be close to matched.
 







About mid-season and thereafter, some teammates, in reference to the Echo HS product, were only commenting, "well, Koi is Koi." I thought that might be an indication he was not connected and would be leaving the squad. If you don't want to be here; leave.

Well, having a trust fund does uncomplicate quite a few things and it allows for idealism without a penalty. You can fuck up with an arts degree and still be ok.
