Doesn't seem like that long ago that I was shocked when Indiana destroyed ranked Illinois. Few months later and they're national champions. One of the best CFB seasons of all time. It was a lot of fun to follow. (And daydream about that being us one day).

3-9 two years ago and they fired the head coach. 27-2 since then. It's absurd.

To a much lesser extent Miami did the same thing after being 3-5 in the ACC three and four years ago.

If he was the preseasin favorite to win the Heisman, your argument would make more sense. But Mendoza was 60-1 to win the Heisman in August. A Heisman winner wasn't bought. Cignetti identified and utilized him. Before the season started, no one was saying "that Arch Manning guy looks good, but Texas probably wishes they had Mendoza instead."
