A team like Minnesota would be expected to hold a record like this because with a few clear exceptions, the best teams do not bowl against the likes of West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Bowling Green, Georgia Tech, New Mexico, Auburn, Central Michigan, and Washington State. It’s like winning the NIT, it’s not bad, but it’s nothing more than gaining recognition for mediocrity.
Sure, but there are teams like Minnesota that have played a litany of opponents as presented that do not have the same record.A team like Minnesota would be expected to hold a record like this because with a few clear exceptions, the best teams do not bowl against the likes of West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Bowling Green, Georgia Tech, New Mexico, Auburn, Central Michigan, and Washington State. If you’re saying they’re expected to beat all those teams then you can’t say the Gophers are mediocre.A team like Minnesota would be expected to hold a record like this because with a few clear exceptions, the best teams do not bowl against the likes of West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Bowling Green, Georgia Tech, New Mexico, Auburn, Central Michigan, and Washington State. That Auburn team lost 23-20 to Joe Burrow LSU team considered one of the all time greats. They had a top 10 pick in Deririck Brown play in the game where we had an opt out. 11 wins against a very good team is nothing to sneeze at. Bowling Green, Central Michigan sure. Even this New Mexico team had 9 wins and played well against power 4 schools.A team like Minnesota would be expected to hold a record like this because with a few clear exceptions, the best teams do not bowl against the likes of West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Bowling Green, Georgia Tech, New Mexico, Auburn, Central Michigan, and Washington State.
