National Signing Day

Watched the press conference. My track record on this is not good, but I predict big contributions will be made by Aaden Aytch and Howie Johnson. That being said, sll of the guys were impressive. Go Gophers!

Eleven of the twenty-seven Penn State commits ended up signing with Virginia Tech.

None of the Tulane recruits followed Sumrall to Florida.
I thought I read that PSU was like 13th then went to like 100th and may not sign a signal player in early signing

Kill was good at finding under the radar players that fit his systems. But like Mason he rarely went to battle with other power 4/5 schools for players and in the case of a lot of recruits we were far and away their best offer.
Agreed. It was their strategy and they had some success

Steven Richardson, Eric Murray, Antoine Winfield, Brien Boddy Calhoun, Maxx Williams, David Cobb, and host of others we all fondly remember were low 3 star (Murray was 2 star I believe)

I do prefer current strategy of going to against other p4 team

Coughlin, Johnson, and Winfield alone make it for class

Add in Durr, Barber, Martin, Kieft....

And multiple other contributions
That's my point. The OG said there's revisionist history, indicating that class isn't given credit. Trying to see wtf they mean

Forget them agents at college level. Players still have to give them their cut. Most of these kids aren’t even marketable. Just pay for play.

Good for Fleck. Still. A developmental/life program. Get to know the families.

Word I've heard is that in the NFL agents are limited to straight 3%, but there is not guidance in College so these families/kids could be getting ripped off.

It looks to be a very good class. Big one as well. I always float between the overall points and the AVG rating as to which is the better initial gage of the class talent level. For instance, SC is ranked #1 but has 35 recruits, 14 more than Oregon at #2, and SC has a lower AVG.
I think a 3rd way is looking at how many high end recruits. In your example, USC has 22 four star or higher players while Oregon has 16.

In looking around the Big Ten, I recognized a player's last name and city. Brady Boyd's younger brother, Brock, signed with Ohio St as a WR. Brady had a nice season this year for Utah St after not doing much with Minnesota and Texas Tech.

B1G teams did well in recruiting with USC #1. Wonder how being in B1G brought in elite talent compared to being in PAC.

This statement right here is why I’ll support PJ as long as he keeps producing wins at about the level he has been — even if that “magical” season never comes. I’d love to strike gold with a Cignetti and transfer class(es) that bring 11-1/12-0, but the risk of either regressing or treading water AND losing this culture we can all be proud of is just too great IMO. To each their own, though. I don’t begrudge anyone their opinion about the program.

You have to be a licensed agent to represent NFL players and most (all?) of them are actual lawyers, so they have the ABA ethics/regulations to follow IIRC.

My only criticism with the “empire class” is acting like it was some kind of recruiting coup to land a bunch of talented MN kids that wanted to be Gophers.

I think Coughlin was big, a high rated guy from a high school we hadn’t had great success getting top guys from. The others not so much.
That's all you are using to gage that class? A ton of under the radar talent. It was a crazy good class that gave us highlight after highlight in 2019.

My point was it was mostly a bunch of guys that would’ve been gophers no matter who the HC was.
