2025 Bowl Projection Tracker

I'm going to guess that we get the Rate Bowl.....which wouldn't be too bad depending on the opponent. WVU was a disappointment a few years ago since we were 8-4 and they were 6-6 (and didn't look great getting to that record). Playing ISU or TCU would be a fun matchup. Even KSU at 6-6 (much better than the 6-6 WVU team) would be a nice option.....thinking about the Power Trip narratives with Ben Leber being a KSU alum.

Cincinnati is 7-5 and a possible B12 opponent in the Rate Bowl.

I don't know enough about them to be disgusted by them.
A lot of gopher fans are pretty pretentious
They’d rather play LSUs backup coach and backup QB than cincinatti
im not sure anyone knows

But I would bet money if Pitt is in the pinstripe bowl, Penn state will be

I would love any of those opponents and any of those locations.
But I actually like New York (because I would likely get to go)

Las Vegas makes the most sense for Minnesota.. Nebraska has never been to the rate bowl. I think the Big Ten may feeI Illnois is a better match up against an Sec team in Nashville. Penn.St is less then a four hour drive to New York. Same thing for Northwestern going to Detroit.
I think PJ will really be pushing Vegas.

If I had to guess
I think you are correct.

The thing that throws it off is if Nashville or Vegas really prefers Nebraska in spite of head to head and standings

The way the teams should really be ranked for selection based on standings and head to head are:
1) Illinois
2) Minnesota
3) Nebraska
4) northwestern
5) Penn state

Amongst the 4….

Illinois 8-4 (5-4) and 1-0
Minnesota 7-5 (5-4) and 1-1
Nebraska 7-5 (4-5) and 1-2 (beat northwestern)
Northwestern 6-6 (4-5) and 2-2
Penn state 6-6 (3-6) and 1-1

Everyone beat each other…so you probably go by conference record (1) and where that is a tie you chose head to head to get the above order

Obviously it’s not a straight up draft

I get people hate New York due to the Mason Dixon line

But honestly the best opponent to play is Georgia tech of all the ones I’ve seen listed

Teams that were power 5 in 2014 with a coach >
Georgia Tech is really good. Their QB will eat us up.

I am in the south but I love NY. Got engaged there.

I also got engaged in the state of NY

I think it might be beneficial to the gophers to play someone who is dumb

Because the defense of the gophers is suspect. And smart teams can take advantage.
I’ve watched to know enough of GT to know I’d pic GT over the gophers. I also think the gophers offense would be fun to watch in a warm weather game. Would prefer indoors or warm.

NY would be likely more mediocre weather and another close to the vest game

I so want to play LSU this year. I think we beat them.

I don't want G Tech or Pitt.

From the last time we were in the pinstripe bowl, we had a lot of yahoos come out of the woodwork to tell us that NYC is some kind of dystopian hellscape that nobody would ever want to visit. 🤡

I’d rather play Georgia tech in NYc than Kansas state in Phoenix or Houston in Vegas

But that’s just me and I get that

I love it too. But I'm simply not a fan of these bowl games played in baseball stadiums. I remember the Rate bowl looking just horrible in every way. And I know there were the turf issues, but there's no reason that game shouldn't be played at Sun Devil at least if they won't play it in Glendale.

My daughter goes to school at GCU I’d love a Arizona game

id like us to play the biggest "name" we can, so that's LSU. That kind of stuff pays in recruiting. Beating Pitt or Ga Tech probably not so much. The typical MAC team we get even less so

I would like LSU if LSU would show up.. might be chaos around them.. guys sitting out , coaches leaving etc.. which happens but with the current LSU situation it could be worse … I don’t want a soft win… against a SEC team that looks better than it is.. I want the most challenging game

doesn't matter when you hit the recruiting trail and can go out in Louisiana or SEC country and say you beat LSU. no recruit is going to go bring up the lineup sheet and see who played or didnt
