Never seen a play exactly like it so I think the league will have to review what “re”gaining possession in the end zone means, but once they ruled he regained possession for one step in the end zone it is a TD, the ball is dead and he can’t “fumble it again.” Begrudgingly on watching the replay multiple times I think they’d have to say he regained it with both hands on the ball and one foot down.
See I think the TV guy was wrong though. To establish possession you need to make a football move.

I guess the refs thought fumbling was a football move. If we were talking about crossing the plane, I could agree that the play is dead when it happens regardless of what happens next. Fumbling going into the end zone you need to re-establish possession and that isn't a tenth of a second thing in slow mo. It would need to be two steps without movement of the ball since he kept running.

The thing from this play people should be most upset about is the fact that our entire defense had the guy swarmed and he slipped out.

That's why I really find it hard to get worked up about it even one iota.

Embarrassing play all around. Defense can’t tackle…check. RB fumbles TWICE…check. Clearly incorrect replay ruling…check.

I thought this was one of two calls that went against us, the call that was reviewed as to whether their receiver had has foot down certainly looked simultaneously in and out of bounds. That being said, had we had both calls go our way, we still would have lost.
