Darius Taylor

Terrible that a coach would set expectations. How dare he. And 99.99 percent chance that wasn't the reason.

Kill had a large doghouse btw so it's not like it isn't a thing that almost every coach has anyway.
Well, I heard from my uncle's cousin's neighbor's barber that he heard from his girlfriend's sister's nephew's bartender that that is probably 1003% right. :ROFLMAO:

I suspect that Fleck figured that the true freshmen (Ford and Washington) wouldn't get much playing time so they should be redshirted. That probably was the right idea at the beginning of the season.

He played both of them against Iowa. That was their second game. He may decide to pull the redshirts from one or both of them.
They both have 3 games to play 2 and keep their redshirts, bowl games don’t count.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see them play 1 in the MSU game but not Northwestern, for example, and the other would play in a different game to get them both to 4 games and both keep their redshirts.

We have 4 left not 3 before a potential bowl game. I don't think they will worry too much about a redshirt, if they feel like the freshman are their best options they will play them.

Math is hard when I have to count higher than 2.

If you haven’t been paying attention, redshirts have zero significance anymore. It’s 5 years to play 5 years.

Based on what metric do you think extra stretching can help prevent injuries? What makes you think there is actually truth to that? Players get a great warm up and stretch every time they take the field, practice or game. What makes you think he needs more stretching? Soft tissue injuries likely have way more to do with what goes on in the weight room than from stretching.
There are many factors that go into hamstring injuries. What a lot of people do not know is the glutes play a major role in those injuries. Those muscles must act as a key factor in preventing strains. If the glutes are tight, you are more prone to pulling or even tearing your hamstring.

Another major factor is running form. The body has to be well balanced when you run. When athletes do not have that balance, other areas of the body overcompensate and that leads to injuries. For example, if I am running and I put more pressure on my right leg than my left leg, I am putting myself in danger of injuring my right leg.

Most of this is all science and biomechanics working together, and when one piece is off, everything else has a higher chance of breaking down. That is why strength, flexibility, and technique must all be trained consistently to keep the body performing at its highest level.

DT, for whatever reason, is great to have but dangerous to rely upon. He isn't a bell cow back; he appears to be the opposite. Even if technically available, he might well be on a pitch count and/or might be out of the game re-injured before the 1st Q is over. For practical purposes, the Gophs are without their planned no. 1 and no. 2 backs, and perhaps their planned no. 3 back (Cardenas, Vandy transfer), who left the team before the season started. Fame and Cam are both serviceable and can do the basic job. But if Ford and/or Washington are able to play the B1G game (I suspect one or both is), it is probably time to make them part of the offense, especially if they bring something different--speed, vision--to the game. We've got a great RB in the 2026 class already, and a long time to find more in HS or the Portal. The way the football personnel game is played now, it is foolish to keep a player who can help you out NOW off the field because he might be with you for only 3 instead of 4 more years.

Had a bad feeling about the game so did other things. Found out the awful truth when I came home. The stats said one carry for Taylor for one yard. Did he take a hard hit? Any info during or after the game? I am sure playing Michigan State would mean a lot to him
Didn’t look like he took a hard hit, played 3 plays and was done. I have a feeling the hamstring got tweaked this week in practice.
I was at the game and can add a bit of information. Taylor warmed up normally as far as I saw and played some the first 12 minutes of the game, but not as heavy a rotation as you would expect (although we had the ball so little that I don't necessarily read much into that). His last play was the pick 6 towards the end of the quarter. He released out of the backfield and was open over the middle, but the ball didn't come to him. After the pick, he was engaged by a blocker at about the 15 yard line and pushed toward the goal line before tumbling backwards at about the 8. The blocker had momentum at engagement and controlled Taylor, but neither the hit nor the fall seemed particularly violent and on replay it didn't seem that he hit his head when he fell. Didn't notice that he was slow to get up or notice any struggle to get off the field, but I wasn't watching for that either. In any event, he didn't play after that, but remained on the sideline and didn't seem to be distress.

Word is it's a quad injury that he hurt during practice and re-injured in the game.

Quad is rough- had that in college. Felt like I was getting punched in the thigh every stride. Eventually snapped. Sucked.

Sometimes I wonder if these guys aren't over traning in the weightroom. Why else would one be having all these quad and hamstring issues? But I'm no expert.

Yep would be foolish to play them for 5-6 games and burn the redshirt over that
