ESPN didn't have a proper Box Score for that game
Not surprising. Before I downloaded the media guide from GopherSports.com to check, I asked a few different AI sources. You would be amazed at the incorrect "answers" they provided. Anybody that relies on Grok, ChatGPT, etc. to answer questions better verify the answers before accepting them.

I asked that schools should be included in the new Power Conference football league of 64 and you'd be blown away by how wrong it is.

Don't use AI like google.

Use google is you want to google something.

I have been meaning to bring up OT at the bank lately and failed to do so. This thread is quite timely.

It is quite remarkable to have our new stadium since 2009, yet it has never hosted an OT game. Yet.

That is a lot of football games to not have any of them end regulation in a tie.

The only thing I am sure of is when there finally is an OT game at the bank, most of the student section will be empty as the OT(s) play out.
I think the answer here is "depends."

Now, whether the rest of the other non-student butts are still there as many leave early for "traffic," that is far more predictable.

I still have the media guide open but I didn't need it for that one. It was Northwestern in 2023. I was at a relative's wedding in New York keeping track on my phone. Gophers went from a 99% win probability to losing in overtime.
Sat in person for that miserable production, it was a long drive home.

At times in both the Rutgers and Purdue game, I thought we might be looking at overtime. Then I tried to remember the last overtime game at TCF/Huntington Bank Stadium and I couldn't remember any. But that seemed strange so I looked it up.

I checked the latest media guide and unless I missed something, the Gophers have never had an overtime game in TCF/Huntington Bank Stadium. They have played in eight overtime games since 2009, but they have all been on the road. The last OT game at home was in the Metrodome in 2007 (they actually had two at home in 2007).

We lost to Penn State in OT, Barkley took one to the house.——-Edit, that was at PSU, still a stinger.

Barkley had 19 carries for 38 yards in regulation. Game should have never got to OT. Leidner through a silly INT in the 4th and the defense collapsed late on a FG drive.

Gophers got an overtime FG. Barkley touched the ball and no one touched him. Ball game. Still hurts.

If I remember the 2016 game correctly Franklin was on the hot seat and the Penn state crowd was chanting fire Franklin at halftime. If Leidner doesn't throw that pick we win that game and Franklin is fired next day. Think of all the millions he made because of that pick. I hope he is sending Mitch a Christmas card every year with a big check in it.

True story.

The Billds got very pre-game buzzed for that one...the most we've ever been. Our season ticket neighbors to the right were an older couple that brought their grandson to the game. Mrs. Billd got so excited on a play in the first half that she literally put an elbow into the kid's eye socket that is close to what happened with the chair leg with another storied event. We were so embarrassed that we bought the kid a t-shirt at halftime that at least made him happy...grandparents moved to different seats the next season.

Anywho, back to Jamal's drop. It was right in front of us. We couldn't believe it. So after the game we were walking back to our car parked on a lot on Washington and lo and behold but none other did we come across former Governor Arne Carlson and his wife also walking back from the game. Everyone on GH should know he bleeds, pees, and whatever other bodily functions Maroon and Gold. I recognized him and started going off on how could Jamal drop that ball and for all intents and purposes lose the game. Arne looked at me like I was The Zodiac Killer incarnate and just put his head down as he and Mrs. Former Governor walked along.

Once the fog of defeat lifted (or something else wore off) I too sunk in the proverbial chair and tried to avoid the shame. Ski U Embarrassing.
I will add that. Kardashian marries a Bieber and they become the Zodiac Killers.

I turned to everyone around me at the stadium and informed them that this MSU game was about to be the first OT game in the history of the stadium. People were quite surprised. I will say my prediction of the students proved to be mostly wrong. Their numbers were a bit lower than usual throughout the game but the students that were there did stick around.

Meanwhile outside the student section, as the game looked more and more like it was headed to OT, I had to shake my head as people started heading to the exits up the row next to me. I have shared my amazement concerning the early exits a million times on Gopherhole over the years but I continue to do so because it truly does baffle me. Its like people see their tickets as a pass to share in an atmosphere for a couple hours but don't really care about the sport/game. Getting home a few minutes earlier can't be that important for that many people. Of course there are people with legit reasons to leave early (deadlines to meet, squirrely kids, etc. etc.) but not with that many people.

Pretty wild that people pay 50 bucks and invest 4 hours to going to the game and then cut out on one of the more entertaining endings in stadium history to try to get to their car 3 minutes faster

Geez I've seen 10 of those in person.

Exactly two. The rest are a-holes.

$50? The premium seats are some of the worst culprits! They're paying over $100 in some cases. But kudos to them for making it home by 6:37 instead of 6:48.

That’s the Minnesota Way.

Being in row 1 of the second deck, there are a number of seats in the row that are owned by scalpers and we almost always have casual "event" fans sitting next to us. Even for crappy games, those seats aren’t cheap. But I’m amazed how many times the people sitting there never stand up or get excited. They act like they’re at a Broadway show or something.

Meanwhile, it takes me until Monday to get my regular voice back after screaming for three hours. Football is one of the only games where the fans, if they all work together, can actually affect the game in favor of the home team. If you really want your team to win, why wouldn’t you do that? I guess that’s just me.
