I agree. The crossover games are meaningless when it comes to seeding. Why wouldn’t you

Then how are these private coaches and these "development" centers, or whatever you want to call them, so profitable? Not skill based. All things a high school kid can learn.
The only use for them is an unclear tiebreak.I agree. The crossover games are meaningless when it comes to seeding.
I think we’re missing the overall point here. Yes football has a skill set. Yes, those skills can be developed and any high school program would prefer their kids play youth. But, the point is that kids do not need to be a part of all star teams in football in order to be successful in high school. Then how are these private coaches and these "development" centers, or whatever you want to call them, so profitable?
There are plenty of skills to learn, and to practice, at every position.
I think the real point is why come on a football forum and start a conversation saying that football requires less skill than other sports? Odd way to try make some strange point. Football and any other sport for that matter all require skill obviously. All of the skills for any sport are taught. There are some kids that have a knack to hit, but without someone to show them they would never really be good at it, or a shooter, or a skater in hockey. All of them different and yet they all have skill that others can't master.I think we’re missing the overall point here. Yes football has a skill set. The unusual thing about this year is it’s not very linear, more A beat B and B beat C and C beat A than it seems like normally happens.I agree. The crossover games are meaningless when it comes to seeding.
I'm on Ranger's side. I think there are sports other than football that require much more skill. All sports require skill. No debating that. As a basketball coach, I cannot be convinced that there is more skill required to play football than basketball. You can be a really good football player by being a better athlete than everyone else. If you can't shoot/ dribble/ pass, you might be the best athlete on the court but will not be the best player. Baseball is the same way. If you're a really good athlete, you can play somewhere on the football field. You might find it difficult to find a place in the lineup being a really good athlete with no skill at any baseball position.I think the real point is why come on a football forum and start a conversation saying that football requires less skill than other sports? MG v Minnetonka winner is 1 seed.Brackets revealed Thursday around 10 am. Every one seed is still in play it looks like except for Forest Lake.
There is more parity than usual. The unusual thing about this year is it’s not very linear, more A beat B and B beat C and C beat A than it seems like normally happens.
Maroon are the relief teams? There is more parity than usual.
Nobody has the depth of the years before Covid
Tonka was a clear number two all year, just lost to 3 loss Edina
Forest lake was unbeaten, just lost to 4 loss Moundsview
I thought shakopee could be the top of the second tier…they are now 4-3
Centennial lost to Andover. Andover lost to 4-3 Osseo and gave up 61 while beating 0-7 Anoka.
Lakeville north is 1-6
Lost to 4-3 Blaine by 7
4-3 farmington by 4
6-1 south by 16
6-1 Champlin by 13
The only thing that has held to form this year is the maroon.
The maroon is 0-19 by an average score of 36-8 against non maroon.
40% of the points maroon scored against non maroon were week 1.
YesMaroon are the relief teams?
Maple Grove is the clear favorite but if they slip up at all it feels wide open after them. There is more parity than usual.

If Minnetonka QB is able to come back and play, moving the D1 RB back to RB, they can beat MG.Maple Grove is the clear favorite but if they slip up at all it feels wide open after them.
I know he has been out for a while.....any guess on if he will be back before the end of the season? If Minnetonka QB is able to come back and play, moving the D1 RB back to RB, they can beat MG.
Hopkins is 4-0Maroon are the relief teams?
Agree.Maple Grove is the clear favorite but if they slip up at all it feels wide open after them.
It’s good for matchups. It’s good for the program short term but I think it actually grows the gap every year you’re in it.Hopkins is 4-0
Eastview is 2-1
Coon Rapids 1-2
Roseville 1-2
Park 0-3
Coon Rapids plays Roseville this week and Eastview plays Park. Average margin of victory in 8 district games is 10.25, with 50% being 1 score games.
I’m pretty certain he’s out for the season. Thankfully he’s only a junior, so he’ll get another shot to play.I know he has been out for a while.....any guess on if he will be back before the end of the season?
I think the winner of Section1 of Byron, KM and Stewartville and Section 2 Marshall are the clear favorites to win it. Byron be Stewartville on the last play of the game Saturday.Well class 4A is a very interesting class this year. Nobody really standing out as the clear top dog, IMO.
#1-Byron 7-0
Key wins: Stewartville (27-26), K-M (34-20), Holy Angels (42-12), Hill Murray (42-6)
#2- Marshall 7-0
Key Wins: Rocori (28-0), Fergus Falls (27-14)
#3- Rocori 6-1
Key Wins: Fergus Falls (34-12)
#4- Hill Murray 6-1
Key Wins: SSP (35-14)
#5-Grand Rapids 6-1
Key Wins: North Branch (40-8), Hermantown (34-20)
#6- K-M 6-1
Key Wins: Stewartville (21-18)
#7- Stewartville 5-2
Key wins: No great wins but played K-M & Byron tough.
#8- Holy Angels 6-1
Key wins: SMB (39-26), BSM (14-6)
#9 - SSP 6-1
No good wins, soft schedule
#10- North Branch 6-1
Key wins: Two Harbors (22-10)
Also, keep an eye on Hutchinson, they seem to have found out how to run their power run game with the smaller line they have this year. They could be a sleeper team going into the playoffs. They already played Rocori very tough earlier in the year as well.
Yeah, I would say that's accurate but I'm not so confident in Marshall. They looked pretty good so far but Rocori, Hutch, and WIllmar all look much better now than they did earlier in the season. Then St. Peter has looked solid but mostly against AAA schools.I think the winner of Section1 of Byron, KM and Stewartville and Section 2 Marshall are the clear favorites to win it. Byron be Stewartville on the last play of the game Saturday.
What has stood out to me most in watching HS games this year (in the south metro, specifically) is how little high-end talent there is. I watched Centennial play Rosemount in week 1 and both teams seemed to be very average to me. Some nice players, but no studs. I had no idea i was watching two top 10 teams at the time. If they're both top 10 (and their records would say they are) then....wow.There is more parity than usual.

That is what I'm seeing in class 4A too. Even the top 5 teams don't seem to be as loaded as usual. What has stood out to me most in watching HS games this year (in the south metro, specifically) is how little high-end talent there is. This is honestly nothing new. There are very few truly impressive football players in this state. What has stood out to me most in watching HS games this year (in the south metro, specifically) is how little high-end talent there is. It's really hard to see people stick out when these teams play option football and sound defense. MG is clear #1 program in the state right now and their studs are all FCS talent. What has stood out to me most in watching HS games this year (in the south metro, specifically) is how little high-end talent there is. Yup, that is the issue in MN. I think usually our highest level recruits tend to be lineman. 8 of the top 15 for 2026, 7 for 2025, 9 in 2024.It's really hard to see people stick out when these teams play option football and sound defense. Plus add to that the top 14 Composite players in MN are nearly all linemen.
Top two are athletes that play small out-state football and are dominating. They are projected at TE at P4 Level.
8 are OL/DL or TE
1 is a WR at Hopkins to likely play basketball
1 is a RB playing QB for Minnetonka right now
1 is QB leaving school after the semester to play hockey.
Best skill is at Moorhead, but they don't have the OL/DL to compete at championship level.

I think Rosemount has some really good backs and is better now than the beginning of the yearWhat has stood out to me most in watching HS games this year (in the south metro, specifically) is how little high-end talent there is.
