I finally like out chances of getting out of the 1st round this year.
especially given its for a winger. Both McDavid and Eichel should command more if they want it, though I don't necessarily expect either of them to sign for more than that given the circumstances they're at career wise and location wiseThe first domino falls! Good to see!
$17M is just an absolutely huge number. Wow. McDavid and Eichel are very, very happy campers today

personally, yes, I think he's markedly better, but both can be true. That's a massive dollar increase and do think it's a great deal on Marner (I have no idea what his agent was doing signing him to that deal). At the same time, the VGK locking up Mitch Marner for $12M/yr is looking like an incredible deal right now. Is KK97 really markedly better than Marner?
Edmonton is in a really rough spot with McDavid and that contract. His number HAS to be not just more but a few ticks more than KK97, right? So much for VGK getting Eichel for the sub-$13M number I was pretty sure they could get him at.

I take it he is not a MN resident based on that structure.Interesting contract structure.
Not to be a downer, but what makes you like our chances?I finally like out chances of getting out of the 1st round this year.
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Kirill Kaprizov wants to play for the Minnesota Wild for his entire career and took a big step toward achieving that goal.
The 28-year-old forward signed an eight-year, $136 million contract with the Wild on Tuesday. It has an average annual value of $17 million and begins with the 2026-27 season.
Random additional thought on the dollar amount. Think the additional thing against the wild is, KK is not exactly nationally marketable. Mcdavid is mcjesus and makes crazy dollars in ads. Ditto Makar, MacKinnon, and insert basically all the other big name us and Canadian players. There’s probably more push to “get his” for a guy with more limited ad revenueOffensively, there's an argument to be made between Marner and Kaprizov, no doubt. 200-foot player? Not even close. Marner is consistently in the top 20 in Selke voting (3rd last season) while KK97, as far as I could dig back, has never been in the top 30; not like anyone thinks Defense when they are thinking about Kaprizov.
Still getting my head around $17M/year for KK97. The cap is going up a pretty decent amount over the next several years and that will help but damn that's a big number. These next two contracts are going to be really interesting.
Did not see that coming. Gives the Oil room to sign another top 6 forward and top 4 D man or finally get that shutdown goalie they’ve needed since FuhrThat’s cutting a massive hometown bargain to try win a title
Pretty clear he wants to win one for Edmonton and then still will be able to sign a 7 year mega deal to finish his career wherever he wants or go title chasing if it doesn’t work. Smart for him from that standpoint and what I thought he may doDid not see that coming. He should get tons of exposure on the PP which should booster his offensive output. Do we know for sure who the Wild are pairing him with for regular shifts?I sprinkled $50 on Zeev to win the Calder Trophy this year, at +1700; I figured he's got a halfway decent shot. Go get 'em, Zeev!

Thanks...I missed it that we put Brodin on IR yesterday. Hopefully, we finally get a return on the FRP that we traded for Jiricek.Looks like Spurgeon from what I've seen
Kirill Kaprizov - Marco Rossi - Matt Boldy
Marcus Foligno - Joel Eriksson Ek - Vladimir Tarasenko
Yakov Trenin - Ryan Hartman - Marcus Johansson
Danila Yurov - Nico Sturm - Vinnie Hinostroza
Jake Middleton - Brock Faber
Zeev Buium - Jared Spurgeon
Zach Bogosian - David Jiricek
