I didn’t say want. I said need. Being the focus of the offense for 3-4 years likely more helpful for his career goals. Not sure other teams guarantee that. I think Minnesota does.
 

We're a P4 program who can guarantee him a starting spot for four years and get him good exposure to tough competition that he can showcase his skills against. As long as recruiting continues to give him some skill players at wr and a decent line to protect him, there's no major incentive for Drake to leave outside of dollar signs. I anticipate his success this year will be a boon to receiver recruiting in the portal for next year unless our internal guys continue to blossom in which that won't matter. As it's also been said, Harbaugh has installed a pro style offense which is going to prep him substantially for the next level.

I think that's the fear in the back of all of our heads.
They were able to afford Darius, they will find a way to pay Drake. He won't get his biggest paycheck here, but I gotta believe a fair paycheck will keep him.

Plus, the staff was in on him very early on when even his home state was looking past him. That has to count for something.

True on the need for money, but the other element is playing for a helmet school increases a player's exposure. That can be either good or bad, but it has to be considered.

Absolutely. I wouldn’t be stunned if he left. But the grass isn’t always greener. If he went to a helmet school and struggles, or gets replaced, then what? At Minnesota a lot of struggles can be put on the team around him, etc. And the odds of a better QB coming in are very slim.
 



Lindsey's biggest knock eventually will be his lack of athleticism. A QB who can run is the new norm in the NFL. Ones that can't are the anomaly. Drake should watch tapes of Big Ben, similar bodies and games, but Ben had great footwork in the pocket to avoid the rush.

Definitely one of the biggest areas he needs to work on still and one of my biggest concerns for the game this Saturday. He hasn't looked comfortable when asked to run or try to escape the pocket.

He looked fine escaping the pressure on the last drive against Rutgers, when he completed the explosive play to Tracy down the sideline.

He looked fine when he escaped the pocket for the TD pass to Smith against Buffalo.

He looked fine when he escaped the pocket to his left and completed the pass along that sideline against Northwestern State to Biber, I think?

In that same game, he looked fine when he ran it in on the read option.

Running is not his game, but he has better mobility than what he’s being given credit for.

He’s been sacked only 5 times in 4 games. Not bad.

100%. The downside of getting more exposure is that the player opens themselves up to more scrutiny and every mistake is seen by a larger audience.
 

Our quarterback is great. I think he’s on a trajectory to be a first round pick. He will become a better runner over time. The angst about him leaving is just silly. Mostly three step drops and boom get rid of the ball along with some play action to Taylor for the five or seven step drops will be important this week so we can keep their pass rush at bay. Taylor has had enough time to heal up. I can’t imagine him not playing this week and if he doesn’t then he’s gotta move on one way or another as he’s taking up too much NIL for what he’s worth. In the three years he’s been here this game is more important than any others for him to be on the field and effective.
 

Celiling is 1.1. floor is not starting by the end of his college career. Big swath.

He looks like a good prospect
