Farm Aid Concert at Huntington

I saw U2 in both banks. There was NO COMPARISON in sound quality. at (then) TCF Bank Stadium, it was fantastic. All in all perhaps the best concert I have ever been to (especially considering U2 is not my all time favorite band). We were sitting a long ways away and the sound was perfect - even during a rain storm.

We enjoyed it so much we jumped at the chance when U2 returned a few years later to play at U.S. Bank Stadium. It absolutely sucked. My wife always loved the warm up act (Beck) and the sound was so bad his set was half over before she even realized it was Beck.

I am told that U.S. Bank stadium seats that are lower and/or on the floor are better. But I can confirm anything higher on the sides in the Vikings stadium absolutely suck. It sucks so bad I have made a point of not returning there for a concert. I wouldn't think twice about a concert at the Gopher's stadium.
I heard that with all the weird angles, the acoustices in US Bank are not good for musical acts.

And most of those farmers still owe large $ that they borrowed to buy the land, equipment, seed, livestock, etc.
Not really, at least in terms of debt to equity ratio. Ag lenders have per acre lending limits thanks to the mistakes of the late 70s and early 80s. Farmers have incredible equity their grandfathers would never have dreamed about. The typical "small" farmer I work with has a net worth of probably $8-$10 million. Most more.

Set Times announced:

Looks like a great lineup! If I lived in Minnesota, I’d be going. Many of them are past their prime, but seeing them all on the same day will be memorable.

Set Times announced:

Looks like the portion that CNN is going to broadcast won't have Neil Young, Dylan, or Willie, and only 20 minutes or so of Mellencamp.

The way I am seeing it is everyone starting with Chesney through Young will be on the CNN coverage (6pm - 11pm Central). I would think they would go long to include Willie.

I presume the TV schedule was announced before Dylan joined in and juggled the lineup.

My guide just shows coverage from 6-9. Hope they go 6 to midnight.

My guide says 6pm - 11pm, which matches the press release in Post #67 above.

The guide also says that they are going to repeat it right after, so I think it shouldn't be a problem to extend through Willie.

Enjoying the concert on TV, could do without the political hacks but lots of legends

What did the politics consist of?? If I may ask. Maybe I don’t want to know, I’ve been unplugged from that crap for a while now and a better for it.

My (short) review: great lineup. First 4 or 5 were decent, but kinde meh. Wynonna rocked it! Neil was the star of the night. Tim and Dave are always good, but seen them so many times. Dylan was really good. Willie was almost painful, but for God sakes, he's 93.

p.s. much less political than I thought it would be.

How was Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats?

Also very good from what I remember....to many $17.99 beers. I was remiss that both Waxahatchie and Trampled were both very good as well... the only downer was, in my eyes, Willie, but he's 93. Glad I finally got to see him.

Klobuchar had a couple digs on current admin, I switched to Illinois and Indiana game until she was done. I just want to listen to music
Well, the current administration has induced a farm crisis in their first administration trade war that required an 11 figure bailout to farmers. China never fully returned as a soy bean buyer and under the renewed trade war, it is much worse this time. Many farmers are in a precarious position because they have none of their crops sold. You want to know who is going to be bailing them out this time? So yeah, the politics matter.

I thought Willie provided the 2 most poignant moments of the entire evening. The Pearl Jam cover he did with Lukas, Just Breathe and his Last Leaf were pretty moving.

Especially after midnight 11 hours into the show.

Credit to his kids for guiding him through the set. I thought his voice was more powerful than the other time I saw him which was about 10 years ago at the Minnesota Zoo.

Did Mellemcamp wrap up before his Hoosiers played?
Did Bob D give a shout out to his Gophs?

The Hoosier game was still going on when Mellencamp took the stage, but essentially over in terms of the scoreboard. The rout was on.

No Gophers mention by Bob.
