That was a really good game — Minnesota gave Cal everything it could handle, even without Darius Taylor. Ijeboi ran hard, Brockington made big catches, and Lindsey looked poised leading that long TD drive before halftime.

When you went up 14-10 in the third it felt like momentum was yours, and the Gopher defense kept Cals running game in check most of the night.

In the end, it came down to a few mistakes — the muffed punt, some penalties, missed field goal, and some questionable calls — but those are fixable,

For us - it was a hard-fought win against a tough team that’s going to cause plenty of problems in the Big Ten.

Thanks. Cal was better than I expected. Ultimately our mistakes doomed us.

All the best to the Bears—hope they run the board and keep the QB poachers at bay—so to speak. Seems like a first rate triumvirate with Wilcox; Harsin & Rivera running the Berkeley football show. Attending the game brought back memories of our Memorial Stadium built in 1924; left behind for the Metrodome after the 1981 season and razed in 1992. There was a strong sense of de ja vu about the experience going back to my elementary through high school years watching Gopher football at the U of M Brickhouse.

Thanks Bear. Will look forward to a rematch in a B1G vs ACC bowl in the future. Good luck from here.

Not gonna lie, at first I chuckled at the empty looking stadium, but man that crowd looked/sounded raucous on tv.
It was loud in the stadium. We were seated near the student section and they would be shouting into the mic or playing music even when were at the LOS. Isn’t there a rule about after the huddle breaks no amplification? Just wondering, didn’t cause us to lose by any means.

This thread is like when the higher ups come to visit. A suck off fest 😂😂😂😂. Reminds me of Office Space.

it can be but i've now interacted with minnesota fans 3 times in 20 years and its been a good time each time.

the game was intense. had the feeling of a game with some stakes and basically even players. i think there's a lot of positives minnesota can take from it, though the cal board would look the same if the tables were reversed.

best of luck the rest of the way. really :)

This is a very sad thread. It was a good game only in that it was close. The Gophers sucked. Cal was a perennial bottom dweller in the PAC10. They suck. Good game losses like this are for losers. If the Gophers have a close game with Oregon and/or OSU that would be a good game. Gophers-8-4 this season, likely 7-5. Bad Boy mower bowl, here we come. NYC will be interesting after the election of a new mayor. The Gophers will need to call on Snake Plissken to help with the travel plans.

Settle down. Hate to break it to you but Cal has about equal talent vs MN.

Where are the 10-2 voices? Still looks like 6-6 with a best 7-5. Will have to pass on the New York City bowl. Without the police, will be to dangerous of us simple people from rural Minnesota.

Fleck's teams almost always start off slow. The 2019 team easily could have gone 1-2 in the non-conference. Not suggesting this team will be as good as that one but I'm not going to write them off yet because of one bad game.

🤣 Hyperbole?

Its unfortunate that Cal fans didn't experience a Gopher football team playing close to its potential.
You only have to be better for three plus hours. Paraphrasing Coach Glen Mason (and others).

I refuse to slight California Berkeley. Knew that they would be tough going in. They played well and won. Wish them the best going forward!

Go Gophers! Beat Rutgers!!!

I’d be pretty happy with an 8-4 season.

2019 needed a 4th down pinpoint throw & catch against Fresno to send it to OT (along with the fact that if we have any other S than Antoine Winfield, Gophers probably lose game in OT) and a last second win which included a long 3rd & 4th down conversion on last drive to beat Georgia Southern.

I'm with ya. I'm gonna just enjoy the season!
