All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

I just reported he didn't play well today.

Holy overreaction.

Ok, I heard he played well. LOL
I’m just giving you shit man. I’m more meaning people are literally posting day by day updates on his throwing acting like each day makes a difference. You mention getting “concerned”. Why?

He’s a rookie. He looked real good and people were going crazy last year before he got hurt. Let him do his thing. KOC has confidence in him and that tells me we can let this play out. He’s made Darnold into a prince instead of pumpkin, Dobbs the most viral qb maybe of all time as the passtronaut, and had Mullens throw for 300 yards multiple times. He’s a rookie with a really good coach. Let him do his thing. We’re talking about practice! 😉

Well, if it's an overreaction, what gives with the, "I'm getting a little concerned" post script, early or not.

Sounds like McCarthy is not throwing well today.

I'm getting a little concerned, but it's still early

I'm getting a little concerned, because Im getting a little concerned.

Practice doesn't count, so no worries.

Please be advised, I'm ok, and not panicking........LOL

McCarthy is going to struggle, especially early. That doesn't mean he won't be good. There are people here jumping down his throat already, which is absurd.

I haven't noticed anyone hacking on JJM in this thread. When you have a young QB coming back from injury and has never taken a single RS snap, that's going to be a pretty big talking point for a team otherwise positioned to win now.

I'm absolutely concerned about how well JJM performs and develops but that doesn't mean I think he'll be a dud. There's a lot riding on his shoulders playing the most important position in sports. Fingers crossed.

Had I known how serious that post was, I'd have never posted it.

Some are very triggered.

It’s the calm before the storm. Enjoy it. As of now any team can win the Super Bowl. No reason to worry or be concerned at all

I didn't realize the new touchback rule is now at the 35 yard line. That's crazy. Make it the 20 yards line again but have the kickers kick from further back to make touchbacks much harder.
Make it the 20 if the ball lands in the endzone and Return team doesn’t catch it. Make it the 25 if the return team catches it. Make it the 35 if it lands beyond the goalline but out of play.
If it lands before goal line and is fair caught receiving team has choice of 25 or where it was caught.

I'd feel sorry for the KO Returner to have to do the calculations and where with all to determine the best decision to run/fair catch without even knowing exactly where the ball is going to land.

Nah. He shit the bed on his first Draft. He's done much better since and is on course to be a Top 10 GM.
He's a data guy.

I think that's why he does so good on free agents/vets, as there's usually good data on their NFL performance if you know how to analyze it.

Rookies there is no NFL data because they obviously haven't played in the league yet. So it doesn't work (as well)

lol at those getting worked up over McCarthy. If the defense is this good, which we could afford because McCarthys contract, we’ll be just fine and he’ll get better as the year rolls on. If the defense isn’t as good as we’re thinking, it’s not going to matter who would’ve been the qb. He has yet to play an nfl game yall. Shit maybe we should do what college teams have done and blur the qb if there’s all this angst
Bold: will not sign up for that take.

You're probably exactly correct.

Here's the problem though: we have a very short window ... right now. To do something special with this special defensive roster and the special defensive coordinator we have.

Those might not last very long around here.

Would be a G-D shame if it only amounts to a Wild Card game because we weren't ready at QB.
