Do we think Niko saved enough NIL money to be competitive for Dawson should he receive another year of eligibility?
Yes. And the # of teams with $$ isn't huge. He should at least get $1 million or so, but it would seem we have that available.

As a fan, I'd really like to see the college eligibility rules restored back to five (5) years regardless of injuries and/or the use of a RS season.

With that said, adding Dawson to our current roster would exponentially grow our enthusiasm and expectations for the upcoming season. It's been way too long of a wait to feel that way again about this program.

I agree, would love to see some sanity and consistency back in the area of eligibility at the very least in this chaotic environment.

That said....Dawson 100% fits a need on this roster and would make the 25-26 version of the Gophers instantly better.

That said part 2.....wasn't his case already ruled on and denied?

I haven't seen anything about it one way or another.

"The NCAA has denied his request and his appeal," Garcia's attorney, Darren Heitner, told Gophers On SI. "We are now exhausting efforts directly with the NCAA before potentially escalating this matter to litigation."

Forgot about this. But given they just gave a waiver to a guy who "only played 11 games" in one season, his attorney has a good point about having no standards for when they grant waivers. Garcia played 16 in his year at UNC. I guess the magic # is between 12 and 15?

Would certainly seem like this would probably help Garcia's case but who knows. 16 is over 50% of the regular season so they could use that as their mythical cutoff line I guess.

Seems like there is little to no news in terms of what Garcia is doing so no clue if he is even still actively pursuing another year or if he took his shot and has now decided to just move on.

Feels like his college days are over but in this current landscape anything is possible.
