Yeah, I agree with all of this. I will say that I think Shough is probably a 2nd round talent as well (physical tools), he just is really old for a rookie, he's only had 1 decent season, and he's consistently injured.Well Shough and Gabriel being drafted too high as well made the situation worse. These were really bad picks and only fueled the conspiracy theorists more.
I think Sanders might have 2nd round talent and these two maybe 5th rd talent.
Most of Sanders drop was due to how the draft process was handled but he really wasn't even a 1st rd talent to start with. So no matter what the conspiracy theorists would be up in arms. If he was a blue chipper talent wise like Luck or Manning he probably still goes high in the first. The NFL has shown time and time again thay if you're that level a player you will go high regardless of almost anything.
Look at Jamarcus Russell, guy had all the talent in the world but a lot of off the field red flags and look where he went.
It was a really bad draft for QBs, those kind of years, sometimes less talented players make it into the first round (I'm looking at you Christian Ponder) and sometimes they don't.
