All Things 2024-25 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

Good night. Saw Bob Mould. No one ruined the Wolves score for me before I got home. McDaniels and Conley were huge!

15 assists total for the Lakers. Doncic with one. Last year he had 8, 13, 5, 10 and 5
Jaden 11 of 13 and did he grab the rebound on his two misses and score? Also a game high 9 rebounds and 0 turnovers.
Wolves didn’t call their first timeout until 4:33 left in the 3rd quarter.
Happy Easter

Surprised the hell out of me. That's the beauty of sports.

The refs let them play and didn't protect LBJ and Luka. Live and die by the three. Last night they went in.

Fifteen to go.

If you would've told me before the game that
1) Rudy was going to be a no show, 2)Julius would play less than his avg game, and
3)Ant would score 22 pts on 36% shooting,
I wouldn't have even bothered to watch the game.
Yet Wolves win by 22.

Yup. Jaden, Naz, even Conley at key moments, plus serious D.

It didn't matter, but I have a hard time believing the Lakers committed only 10 fouls. Of the four games yesterday that was by far the lowest number called, with Denver the second lowest at 18.

I wouldn't say Rudy no showed, they just didn't need his offense. The team was still better when he was on the court.

Overall it was a complete team effort and LA doesn't have the depth to keep up with the Wolves.

Our #3 - #8 players destroyed their #3 - #8 players.
Really rough game for Rudy as got into foul trouble right away. Judging by his play the last month, I expect that to change and will help compensate if we don't shoot 50% from three again. Same with Ant and Julius, didn't see their best game yesterday.

The whole focus going into the series was the stars. McDaniels, Conley, and our bench said not so fast my friends.

Rudy is not going to play a ton in this series. He can’t play the pick and roll well enough versus Luka and whatever smaller guy is out there. It’s why Luka roasted us last year with Dallas. Finch seems to have learned that. Our smaller lineups match up far better with them as we saw last night

Could be. He definitely won't if plays like he did yesterday.

So interesting how natl media had given Lakers the series. Wolves just a minor bump in the road. Lakers were considered the primary threat to the Thunder in the West. Believe I heard this morning that Wolves are now favored in the series.

The push that James gave Randle right in front of the ref and no foul called was unbelievable.

Yes! Was watching game with my son, he kind of freaked out on that one.
Imagine if Rudy had shoved LeBron right in front of the ref. Probly been tossed.

For Friday game, cheapest ticket $202 on stubhub. $172 thru Wolves. Not sure if that includes taxes/fees.
That bldg gonna be like none other, especially if Wolves up 2 - 0.

He’s just not a great matchup with Rudy getting into the pick and roll if the lakers are going to play Hayes for 8min and try play way more Finney Smith (it’s a dumb choice imo as we will murder them inside and on penetration all game but that’s the joy of them being coached by Reddick who got outcoached by Finch).

No fault of Rudy but him out on the perimeter is a horrid spot for him to be. Going small lets us kill them on second chance points and with ant and Randle playing penetrate and kick ball as the Lakers perimeter defense is poor (doncic and reaves are both pretty bad defensively) and you need Hayes to try clean up messes instead of a rotating LeBron

Especially after the bullshit no-call when Vanderbilt elbowed Naz in the head.

Lakers didn't pick up their first foul until 4 minute mark of the SECOND quarter.
What a magnificent display by Lakers of disciplined defense!

It would be awesome to go up 2-0, come home and be winning comfortably, and just taunt the crap out of Luka!

Luka killed us passing wise on the lob dunks and the corner 3's last year. He doesn't have the same personnel this year. Ironically, Vando might be his best lob dunk partner.

Agreed. It’s either him or Hayes. Idk if you’ll ever convince LeBron to do that with Luka but that set feels like it would massacre us

Interesting after game McDaniels said he realized he was the tallest player in the game when Hayes was subbed out. Took advantage of that.

Lakers like to go small, but paid a price.

I'm not sure the Lakers ever got close enough to our shooters to actually commit a foul. 🙂

According to NBA.com, of our 42 shots from 3, NONE of them were considered "contested" shots with 25 of them considered "completely unguarded". The ball movement from Ant out of double teams is the type of maturity we've all been waiting for.

I can't say I was expecting that outcome last night and now for Game 2, ALL the pressure is on the ESPN Dream Team from the LA.

The best wins are the unexpected ones. Especially after Luka torched us last year this one was really sweet.
My son pointed out last night how Luka complains even after he gets the call.
Ant, on the other hand not his usual whiny self. All business. Good to see!

I always have to be worried about something related to our wolves. I'm worried about hubris. The Lakers have two great players, one very good player and a young but super smart coach. The Lakers got smacked and they are pissed. The wolves aren't shooting 50% from 3 Tuesday night. Can the three players and the coach pull the role players to victories? I'm more worried about Luka and Reaves than LeBron. We'll see.
