The beauty here is that Gobert was the catalyst down the stretch and he's been largely a non factor tonight.
Yup. Jaden, Naz, even Conley at key moments, plus serious D.If you would've told me before the game that
1) Rudy was going to be a no show, 2)Julius would play less than his avg game, and
3)Ant would score 22 pts on 36% shooting,
I wouldn't have even bothered to watch the game.
Yet Wolves win by 22.

Rudy is not going to play a ton in this series. He can’t play the pick and roll well enough versus Luka and whatever smaller guy is out there. It’s why Luka roasted us last year with Dallas. Finch seems to have learned that. Our smaller lineups match up far better with them as we saw last nightOur #3 - #8 players destroyed their #3 - #8 players.
Really rough game for Rudy as got into foul trouble right away. Judging by his play the last month, I expect that to change and will help compensate if we don't shoot 50% from three again. Same with Ant and Julius, didn't see their best game yesterday.
The whole focus going into the series was the stars. McDaniels, Conley, and our bench said not so fast my friends.

The push that James gave Randle right in front of the ref and no foul called was unbelievable.
He’s just not a great matchup with Rudy getting into the pick and roll if the lakers are going to play Hayes for 8min and try play way more Finney Smith (it’s a dumb choice imo as we will murder them inside and on penetration all game but that’s the joy of them being coached by Reddick who got outcoached by Finch).Could be. He definitely won't if plays like he did yesterday.
So interesting how natl media had given Lakers the series. Wolves just a minor bump in the road. Lakers were considered the primary threat to the Thunder in the West. Believe I heard this morning that Wolves are now favored in the series.
Especially after the bullshit tech they gave Randle for throwing a guys arm off himThe push that James gave Randle right in front of the ref and no foul called was unbelievable.

Luka killed us passing wise on the lob dunks and the corner 3's last year. He doesn't have the same personnel this year. Ironically, Vando might be his best lob dunk partner.Rudy is not going to play a ton in this series. He can’t play the pick and roll well enough versus Luka and whatever smaller guy is out there. Agreed. It’s either him or Hayes. Idk if you’ll ever convince LeBron to do that with Luka but that set feels like it would massacre usLuka killed us passing wise on the lob dunks and the corner 3's last year. I'm not sure the Lakers ever got close enough to our shooters to actually commit a foul.Lakers didn't pick up their first foul until 4 minute mark of the SECOND quarter.
What a magnificent display by Lakers of disciplined defense!

According to NBA.com, of our 42 shots from 3, NONE of them were considered "contested" shots with 25 of them considered "completely unguarded". The ball movement from Ant out of double teams is the type of maturity we've all been waiting for.
I can't say I was expecting that outcome last night and now for Game 2, ALL the pressure is on the ESPN Dream Team from the LA.
