Figured we could have one of these for the game tonight. The last college hockey, basketball or football we'll see until August.

Predictions? Western Michigan kind of has that team of destiny vibe but I wouldn't count out Boston U. I'm leaning Broncos.

I’d love to see Western beat BU but I’m not getting any type of gut feeling as to who will win.

25 goals for Eiserman. Losing him marked the downturn for Motzko. We all know going to a better team for more money was a part of it.

If you have any one of these things you have a major shot come tourney time
Incredible coaching
Incredible talent
Incredible goaltending at the right time

All levels, too. Tim Thomas with the Boston Bruins in 2011 comes to mind.

Hmm, coaching and Goaltending, yes.

Incredible talent, maybe. Depends on how that is defined. In the last 8 years only 2 1st round picks have won NCAA championships.

Riley Tufte and Zeev, last year. It wasn’t all that common before that either.

For example, when Quinnipiac ruined your life, they had 2 players drafted, but they were token picks in the late rounds.

I said to have a shot. BU has incredible talent and is in the title game. UMN had it in 2023 (with mediocre coaching and goaltending). My point is you just need one to have hope.

Next year's Gopher roster currently has zero of the three

Think this is a stylistic

next years roster will still have a ton of draft picks. This is such an impressively bad take when you look at who’s won the last decade. Especially when you say “impressive goaltending at the right time”

With all of the wins we've had since Motzko came aboard I just don't get the folks who bash him. Look around, who in the B1G has been a more consistent winner?

The Big Ten sucks come tourney time

One bounce or call goes differently in 2023 and there’s a totally different tune. He’s also the guy who made SCSU an actual relevant program.

Oh, so a shot is what your looking for (something rational). However, then why do you consider the Quinnipiac loss as evidence of choking. Choking would imply not a “shot” but something more?

What elements did Union have in 14? I can’t pick the one that gave them a shot.

Western about to win its first national championship in any sport since men’s cross country in 1965. What a cool story.

Look what happens when you keep playing offense
They scored on their one rush after weathering bu’s storm. There were many parallels in that early 3rd period

All this said…. Where was WMU in people’s preseason rankings? ZERO reason the right group playing as a unit and together cannot get this shit done and end the drought. Let’s fucking go. Vegas it is

Haven’t seen Western play beyond the Frozen Four games, but I love their style of play and how they get after it.

Maybe if they get the Slukynskys lol

Three Minnesotans shun the Gophers in the portal and lead WMU to a title
