Minnesota native Lu’Cye Patterson commits to the Gophers

I hope this means we will see an emphasis on using our depth. Even if there's a bit of a drop off, I'd like see more players earning minutes. This would reduce wear and tear on the top 6-7 and also help to develop and prepare reserves. It may also keep a few more players happy and (hopefully) curb the 2025 exodus.

9 seniors....exodus is inevitable

Bring in Nolan Richardson as an assistant and run a full court press. 40 minutes of hell.

Anyone know if he played mostly PG for Charlotte? I'm assuming he's expected to be the starting PG for us.

Which is why I said curb. Hopefully our depth can gain experience/confidence. If they enjoy their experience, the few potential returners may choose to stay.

Nice to have it official as this one has been rumored for a while. Roster would seem pretty set at this point although there still could be a little more movement I suppose. Will be interesting to see how this new crop gels. Seems like a solid mix of front and back court players with a lot of experience.

I like Mitchell but not at PG. I think Asuma will be starting by mid-January or sooner.
I doubt it. As much as people want Asuma to start, CBJ is going with experience this year. Who will he replace?

Lol! Mitchell is not coming off the bench. Like it or not, it’s not going to happen. There is no way he stayed at Minnesota to come off the bench.
He will certainly be starting to begin the season. What's he going to do if they want to change it up mid-season? Quit? I guess one advantage of so many seniors is they won't be playing footsie with other schools in the portal the first time they get mad at the coach as it seems happened this year.

This is a good pickup. Charlotte wasn't that much worse than us last year and he avg almost 15 ppg. His track record coming in is much better than Hawkins' was. The AAC is obviously a much better league than the MEAC is. If Christie would have returned, I would have liked this roster, even without PP and Hawkins, better than last year's.

Patterson, Mitchell, Odukale, Garcia, Mitchell would be my guess for the starting 5. Asuma, Rigsby, Williams, Fox, Edmonds off the bench.

So 8 outgoing and 8 incoming.

I feel like we lost all of our upside but gained useful depth. If given the choice I'd take upside all day but I guess old isn't always bad either.

If I had to rank the incoming/outgoing I'd say:

Cam
Payne
Hawkins
Patterson
Mitchell
Asuma
Odukale
Carrington
Rigsby
Edmunds
JOJ
Williams
Grove
II
KK
Wilson

So lost best 3 and worst 3. I think an NCAA berth is a long shot, but I also think it's a long shot we finish bottom 3 and miss the BTT.

Witch Mitchell? There’s two of them.

One more wing? 🙏
Absolutely need another wing to replace Christie.
I hope we are not waiting for May 29.
Sign Evans Jr. ASAP.
He is better next season.
Christie is better in the long term, but he will be an NBA pro in the long term.
