Doogie says Payne got “north of $500K, more than entire Gophers” payroll

Their lawyer can argue this. Say they are students who are simply earning some money part-time. Say some of them might even be brilliant scientists.

My side's lawyer will present our case. The huge-money bribing and transferring every year...etc., etc...the absolute total joke of it all.
The only lawyer who would take your case would do so to fleece you. So please, waste all of your money on this you will lose and lose hard.

There isn’t anything illegal going on with NIL or the current system as bizarre and ridiculous as the current system is.

I have come down in the camp that says, I guess they will eventually be just be paid minor league athletes who “represent” the schools. But I also think the idea of giving them scholarships when they are going to be compensated 6 figures is silly.

What laws are being broken? Schools paying the students has to be some sort of fraud. A public University enrolling students who have no interest in school also has to be some sort of violation.

They should be forced to label it as a minor-league professional team.

You know just cause you watch Law and Order doesn't mean you have any idea how the law works right?

You think this will make it to a jury?

How about you take half the money you plan to waste on this, give it to me, I will kick you in the balls, and we can call it a day.
I can't tell anymore if this is a schtick aimed at getting reactions or if this poster really, honestly thinks this way. It is weird.

The NBA League minimum is $1.1 million...if that report is true this is getting beyond stupid.

If our budget was $500k...we would NOT be offering Andrew Morgan $100k of it.
Supposedly, he signed with Nebraska because they doubled our offer. Money is not our problem.
There were 2000 plus players in the portal...there are 350 teams ... that is an average of 6 per team.
It's just how it is. Duke lost 7. San Diego St is losing good players. New Mexico lost two of their best players. The teams with new coaches all start over. It's just how it is,
The top 25-30 teams compete with more money. I believe we have as much or more money than 300 teams.
There are plenty of guys in the 2000 plus looking for the right fit for them without money being the trigger.

This is as I described a while ago.
You have to be top echelon wealthy (multi-billionaire) to own a major league sports team.

But the level below that (or a group of rich folks) could buy a contender for their favorite college team for much, much less. We may be seeing that. It's a matter of time before some tiny D1 school buys a championship.

Colleges paying students is so far beyond stupid that I can't even describe it. A lawsuit would win if the jury had any brains at all.

But even in here...guys talk out of both sides of their mouth about it. Because they go along with whatever they're told.

Money is our #1 problem.
I think there 1a and 1b

1a is our coach has no track record of anything
1b is the woke ass university doesn't care about athletics like most power programs. That in turn leads to no donations and no nil

The sec schools don't have these issues... The also don't play that political crap the u does

Will ask again.....WTF are you even talking about here?
Kicking-out coaches & players has detailed all of our best teams.

Clem.

We blocked Tubby's hires. And then blocked his best players off his best team.

We kick-out our only big-man off Pitino's best team.

I know, I know...you're going to say that we had no choice. You believe whatever the administration tells you.

Funny, myself and others were laughed at for stating these numbers. Oh well, denial is very powerful I guess. i.e..ben is a good coach

Lots of crazy numbers have been tossed around. Some are certainly true others are complete and total BS.

File your lawsuit already or let it go.

Not all of these situations are the same.

-Every school would have fired Clem in 1999. Even Kentucky and Kansas. Let it go.

-Tubby being blocked from hiring Jimmy Williams was stupid, but I doubt it had any real impact on his tenure.

-Royce White and Trevor both probably should have been let back on the team once their cases were dragging on and on for no reason. Maturi was a wimp. Point on that one.

-Reggie Lynch would have been kicked off almost every team. That one wasn't a gray area. He was a creep.

So yes, Tubby's best team got torpedoed and it's unfortunate. The rest, not so much.

apropos of nothing -

saw an item that T. Denny Sanford had his net worth estimated at $2.1-Billion. and the powers-that-be at the U of MN got into a spat with him.

for younger posters - T. Denny is a St. Paul native and U of MN grad. made a butt-load of money in the banking industry. in 2003, T. Denny made an offer to give the U of MN $35-Million for naming rights to the Gopher Football stadium, but the deal fell through. according to reports, T. Denny wanted the payments spread out over a longer period of time, but someone at the U of MN objected to that stipulation and the deal fell through. the U of MN eventually accepted the same amount - $35-Million - from US Bank. after that, T. Denny was quoted as saying that he was no longer interested in the U of MN. (in 2009, T. Denny did give $6-Million for a Hall of Fame inside of the stadium - a deal that was brokered by then AD Joel Maturi. Maturi and T. Denny reportedly had a good relationship)

sure would be nice to be on good terms with a Billionaire right now............

Royce White had/has some serious issues. He may have been able to hold it together for one year with Iowa State but if you look at his college and pro career it is littered with legal and other issues.

Not sure it has gotten any better. Some friends of ours have a 14 year old who was in a tournament against one of Royce's kids recently and White was right in the middle of some high level examples of parental bad behavior at a youth sporting event.

Not saying Royce didn't have issues. Clearly he did/does. Just agreeing that another program that took basketball a bit more seriously probably wouldn't have left him suspended for multiple months while campus police "investigated" a missing laptop from a dorm room.

US Bank? How about TCF Bank?
