Gopher Potential Portal Pursuits

If Tyson can pledge millions in NIL to Arkansas, FedEx $25M to Memphis, Berkshire-Hathaway money at Nebraska, why are there no large companies in Mnpls that can support the UofM? General Mills, Target, Hormel, Xcel, Land-0-Lakes, USBancorp, 3M, BestBuy, United Health? FFS, why is it so difficult? This is the world now. DTA looks weak imo.

Our administration has historically been against FB & men's BB. So they're probably opposed to paying big money for BB players.

And seeing the causes that large companies support these days...it probably goes against their agenda too to support FB & men's BB.

Target seems the most likely...naming rights player for sports. Land O Lakes already stepped up.
Is DTA weak or is it just how they present it...it does seem naive.

No, he redshirted at a Mid Major. If he is not good enough to play there, what makes you think he can survive in the Big Ten?
Well....I'm not saying he would survive in the Big 10, but......
That "Mid Major" that you talk about was 28-7 and a much better team than the Gophers.
He's legit 6'9" and appears to have put on 20 lbs since high school.
He was a 3 star coming out of Totino Grace (so he might actually choose us).
We need height.
If red-shirting means you have no chance of competing in the future, than we have no hope for Betts, right?
He's better than Jack Wilson

Target's causes they support are polar opposites to supporting FB & men's basketball.

And there's no money to be made. No advertising. This isn't naming rights to an arena. This is strictly if the CEO is a Gopher fan like we are and wants to buy a winning team.

Two of the three you mention are companies run basically by one guy who can do whatever he wants with no questions asked. As far as I know, our big publicly held companies here has ownership more spread out and boards and shareholders need to be convinced this is wise use of their money. Right now I don’t know the economics behind this and think this more rich people and their hobbies than efficient use of resources. Maybe there is an economic rationale to it ( and there certainly is in some specific cases-Caitlin Clark) but I haven’t seen it yet.

Yeah we would need that 1 guy who can do whatever he wants to be a Gopher fan.

Companies like Target...their rank & file, the outspoken ones...would go absolutely ape-shit if they found out they gave money to men's basketball.

Jack Wilson won the shower lineup.

I think it is different in a town like Ames for example where there is nothing else but college sports. There, I'd guess that a business that helps the Cyclones win big is a hero and gets big publicity. We need one of the big boys to become a leader and get in the game and others would follow. I think a company like Cambria is probably our best shot. Private company with big wealth and success.

Any interest in Patrick Bath---Totino Grace---6'9" 230----redshirted at Drake---4 years left???
Probably too tall, as well. :)
But, he is a hometown guy and IF he wasn't good enough to play he'd fit Ben's criteria in roster building.

I hope a company steps up.

But I have doubts that our administration would enter into an advertising campaign about this. Or even allow it. They might want to keep total control over it...and keep us on a low budget.
