Per Harrison:

New Gophers QB Max Brosmer is starting to get up to speed with his new team.

Brosmer transferred to Minnesota after spending four seasons at the University of New Hampshire in the FCS. He led the nation in passing in 2023 with 3,464 passing yards and 29 touchdowns while guiding the Wildcats to a 6-5 record.

"Initially, it's you're getting thrown into the fire and you're feeling it out for the first couple weeks. It seems really fast when you first get into it," Brosmer continued. "But right about now it's hitting that sweet spot where you're kind of getting the feel of what you can and can't make ... on the field, throw wise, and also who you can and can't move with your eyes in certain situations. People are playing different speeds at different levels. I think it's a challenge every single day. It's a lot of fun to attack and compete with the guys."

Go Gophers!!

Nice, when one has a quality QB one has a quality team. If we only had Air Max last season how many more smiles, cheers & wins would we have had? Remember not all arms or tanks are alike. General George Patton said during the Korean war.

Yeah, you’re right. He said it at the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. It’s good to know history.

Not to be picky, but General Patton died in an auto accident in Germany in 1945

You are correct. With a horse I believe. Great men like Patton & Grant are at their best during war. Without war they were lost souls. Like lectures one must use Malapropisms to find if one's audience is paying attention or has the comprehension.

I am reading Rick Atkinson’s book “The Day of Battle” about WW2 in Africa and Europe which discusses Patton a great deal. While Patton had about as much courage as any man who served, he had a lot of flaws.

What war was Bud Grant in?

"What is less known about Grant is that he enlisted in the Navy after high school in 1945 during World War II. Grant's first duty station was Treasure Island Naval Station in California, where he trained as a crewmember for a landing ship.

Before he could get his first taste of combat, the war ended. He was then assigned to Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois where he played on the Bluejacket, the base football team."

Patton's offense would not have been ball control it would be an attacking aggressive smashmouth.

And do you know who the coach of that team was?

Gen Patton had a son, Army Major General George Smith Patton IV, who served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Two star General, if I recall. His father's path as a General is pretty interesting.

Atkinson's books are terrific. Take a look at the trilogy on the Pacific War by Ian Toll - amazing.

So many things went wrong last year and it was unexpected that Kaliakmanis was going to be as ineffective as he was. Had he been the version of himself that beat Wisconsin in 2022, the Gophers probably would have been 9-3 and we would have been satisfied with the team.

I don’t have expectations this year that our new FCS QB will step in and light up the B1G. But, I will at least dream that he will be as far above expectations as Kaliakmanis was below them last season. If so, the team might be better than the 6-6 level many are predicting.
