Silence from Hawkins and Christie is deafening!

Somehow, I didn’t know this. Oops! I stand corrected!

I still think Hawkins will be back!
...and that might be old pretty soon. From ESPN today:

https://www.espn.com/college-sports...fer-eligibility-rule-next-meeting-report-says

From the second paragraph: "The proposed legislation, which was first reported by The Athletic, would not limit the number of times an athlete can transfer."

I thought I saw somewhere recently that the NCAA is going to propose a free to transfer rule as long as certain academic criteria are met. Does anyone else remember hearing anything about that?

That's the idea. If you think that's going to actually do anything you are dreaming. All it will take is for 1 kid to sue saying it was the teachers or the school trying to sabotage them and that won't matter. I've said it multiple times the only way this ends is with contracts.

Yeah, it's in the link I posted right above your post.

This site certainly can be toxic at times. In game threads tend to be a cesspool of negativity during games. But it isn't as in your face as social media is.

We never tried to keep our kids off of social media but I am so relieved that none of my sons have ever developed a strong attachment to it. They use social media but aren't obsessed with it the way many people are.
They're not quite the bastion of positivity a post game loss thread on the football board is, though 😂

The latest on Christie sounds like he will go through the draft process and maintain his eligibility but NOT enter the portal.

The longer Hawkins goes without an announcement, it does become a bit concerning.

When is the last time a Gopher tested the draft waters and returned? Vashon Leonard? I'm thinking there was a fringe player or two since then who put their name in, but no one who had actual draft prospects.

Back then you could go through the actual draft and if you didn't get picked or didn't like where you got drafted, you had the option to return. Now you have to pull out prior to the draft or you lose remaining eligibility.

Hawkins led the pack. He's back and putting on a show at Williams Arena.

Significant NIL complicates the rest. My wild guess is they first got the Garcia deal done as the top priority. He took less than he could have got elsewhere.

Now it is the dance with Christie. My guess is he wants to stay but comparing what the Gophers are offering. For starters, Garcia and Hawkins are coming back. Then Gophers have to be in the ballpark. Christie can't accept a huge gap, is my guess. DTA is open for donations.

Christie wants to come back, I think. Have to get a deal done.

He can stay here for less money and be the man and get prepared for the NBA with lots of floor time. Considerably more than he would get at a place that could afford a big pay for play package.

Amir Coffey did it once as well

Amir Coffey did it once as well
I don't think so?

I do recall Richard saying that their plan was for Amir to test the waters after sophomore year, but that his shoulder injury (ruined his season) put a stop to that.

Hawkins officially back. Just announced.
Yes, he's back!

As someone posted above, Christie will be back unless he declares for the draft. I highly doubt he does that.

They have been spreading out the official announcements of guys coming back. Garcia, Mitchell, Betts, and Hawkins have all done it on different days......Fox and Christie are the two remaining potential returns.....fingers crossed they both get their days and both decide to come back.
CBJ needs to get to work anyhow, but if those two are not coming back, we will be in trouble trouble
