Postseason

Such a weak penalty call on Cornell. Although they got a great look with 15 seconds to go to tie it still.
Yea, can't believe Denver goalie got over to stop that. Think officials were looking to give Denver a PP since Cornell had one earlier. That said, kill the penalty like DU did.

Penalties were 2-1 against Cornell. The guy just dropped his stick hoping for a call in my opinion and got the call. It wasn’t like he hit his hands.

My mistake. Thought you were talking about the call at the end of the 2nd period where DU got the PP goal. Yea, end of game - tough call.

I just watched a replay of Michigan/NDak game and for all the teeth gnashing about the size of the arena, I saw plenty of empty seats.

DU will look to make it 10, would be 5 since 2003
BU will look to make it 6, would be 2 since 2003
BC will look to make it 6, would be 4 since 2003
One of:
UM will look to make it 10, but first since 1998
MSU will look to make it 4, would be 2 since 2003

Gophers will try to end the drought at 22 years... None of the players remember the last title.

BC wins. Too much talent.

Cutting it close. Could this be a sign of things to come? Will BC fall in the Frozen Four?

Tournament organizers must be happy. Denver out west, two Boston teams out east, and a Michigan team in the upper Midwest. Switch out one of the Boston teams for Minnesota and it would be ideal.

Watching Michigan win a national title in St. Paul is gonna be sickening.
Looking at the teams making it it's almost like having as many first rounders as possible is a good recruiting strategy despite what many Gopher fans have said over the years. 🙄

BC has 4. Michigan has 2. BU has 2 (I’m counting celebrini). Denver has none. We have 3.

Have gopher fans really said that? I don't remember any complaining about having Cooley, Moore, Rinzel, etc.

Good point. So maybe the key is top 15 picks these days.
I would agree with that. You need a game breaker or things have to go perfectly. We didn’t have one this year. Every team left does (Denver is a little different and to me is the only team that could also lock it down and win a tight game but has numerous guys who can completely change a game and I guess we’ll see where Buium goes this year)

DU has a great coach. Like Qpac.
And yes Buium is now top 10.

GPL a few years ago, maybe 10 now. It was the result of the Okposo era when the Gophers were LOADED every year but never won one.

It’s gotta be a balance as there’s no way to reload every single year (BC will be interesting next year), but yeah the game has changed massively now with the portal so you should try get every single high end guy you can and then take the top ECAC CCHA and AHA guys you know will look to transfer

BC's class is LOADED...

I'm going to the championship game. I hope Michigan is not in it.

Bracket:

Boston vs Boston would be cool. Maybe I shouldn't admit that. It would get the Boston media excited and maybe more attention for the sport. Anyone but Michigan.

I hate every possible scenario. Boston v Boston in St. Paul would make me sick, but I absolutely despise Michigan, and don't like Denver much either.

Every scenario is, as mentioned, awful.

I'm rooting for lesser of evils, DU. Carle a really good coach. He'll make BU grind and not sure that's their game.

The Don started out great, then couldn't get it done with great talent and then got lazy. That Holy Cross loss was really bad.

He had a pretty good revival from 2011-15, winning more games than anyone in the country, 4 conference titles, 2 frozen fours and a title game appearance in that span. It makes me sad how underappreciated his tenure is in this fan base.

It's really weird how Don got treated. During that span you are talking about, people on this board were saying things like "national titles are all that matter" and characterized the conference titles, frozen fours, and even the title game appearance as "participation trophies." Then we got rid of Don, and the first time Motzko made the tourney, some of those same people were excited about how he "brought us back to relevance."

The Don is one of only two coaches to win a Natty in our history, so until someone else gets multiple NCAA titles to their name here, he is still number two behind Herb in my book.
