It goes by the opponent being ranked in the poll at the time of the game. Whether, what matters for selection purposes, it's a Q1 or Q2 win, depends on how they do the rest of the season (they were NET 26 and probably won't go down much, if at all from this).

Purdue just beat Washington (first Top 25 win since 2023) so as of the now the only Big Ten teams that haven't beaten a Top-25 team in the past year alone, besides the Gophers, are Northwestern and Rutgers (last won in 2022).
