WBIT Game 3: Gophers host Gonzaga (3-27-25)

Does this mean the last Gopher to have the statline Battle had was 2002-03 or is it impossible to easily search boxscore data before that date so this could be the first time in program history?

I already plead guilty to being impatient for wanting the Gophers to instantly become good instead of incremental improvements from year-to-year. But realistically every year since forever the Gophers would lose to teams they are supposed to beat but not this year which is progress. Maybe next...

    WBIT Bracket 2025

No. Charlie Creme was wrong and UNLV wasn't one of the committee's First Four Out but Colorado was. Autumn Johnson is one person who does bracketology who was on track with Colorado being a First Four Out team (though she was off with Saint Joseph's/had Richmond much lower than the committee).

    WBIT Bracket 2025

I'd still rather have to play at the 5, 6, 7, or 8 seed than play at the 1, 2, 3, or 4 seed to make the Sweet 16. Of course the Gophers only had to win one more home game, against Oregon (of course their injured player who couldn't miss any shots got shut down for the season shortly afterwards)...

    WBIT Bracket 2025

I know nothing about any of the teams in the bracket, especially the mid-majors, but Colorado could be the top team in the WBIT if they are supposed to be at full-strength?, as I noted when I speculated whether they could end up ranked end up ahead of Minnesota on the bubble, they've had...

    Pathetic Schedule

You want to be able to separate yourself from similar teams in other conferences though. They might not have had it in them, but if the Gophers could've beaten one good team non-conference, without any poor losses (if Northwestern could beat Utah, anything should be possible, but Northwestern...

    Pathetic Schedule

And casual fans don't know how good a team actually is until they actually start playing better teams so it's hard to know how excited or what expectations to have for a team. Obviously, just in terms of just wins and loses and not what you get out of the games, if you play good teams...

    NCAA Bracketology

FWIW, Beating Oregon State and Vermont is probably not much different than beating Wisconsin and Rutgers since they are only tournament teams by virtue of getting an auto-bid. Vermont probably will finish just short of being a Quad 3 win and will still be a Quad 4 win. Harvard just beat...

Athletic has Minnesota Ranked Number 2 in State Rankings

That's why i'm always upset too. It seems like nowadays every team with Minnesota players who weren't 5-star mega-recruits are helping leading their teams to success while Minnesota, in the past 15 or so years, except for one year, never has any success (as in NCAA Tournament success). Though I...

    NCAA Bracketology

Richmond just lost at the buzzer to Saint Joseph's in the A-10 Semifinals and since Richmond is a lock to make the NCAA Tournament as an at-large team ahead of the Gophers there is now zero chance the Gophers will back there way into Last Team In of the NCAA Tournament based on whatever happens...

    NCAA Bracketology

Barring any bid-stealers, Big East upsets, etc. I wonder: Do any of the Ivy League teams move down if they don't make the Ivy League Championship and if so how far? Outside of Harvard winning at Indiana the only claim to fame the Harvard/Princeton/Columbia trio seem to have to me is that they...

After tiebreakers it is still: 3. Ohio State, 4. Maryland

    Other B1G Conference Games 2024-25

The only difference is the Gophers choke away multiple games in which winning and losing is the difference between making the NCAA Tournament or not while Illinois losing today makes no difference in that regard since they've already won enough games to be a lock.

B1G Game 18: Gophers visit Michigan State (3-1-25)

I made the mistake of reading small print too fast and read "underprepared" as "unprepared". I will adjust my eyes from now on. I hate playing 357 of out 362-ranked non-conference schedules as much any anybody, but I'm not sure how true that is because under the previous coach beating/playing...

B1G Game 18: Gophers visit Michigan State (3-1-25)

If the non-conference schedule left them completely unprepared then they wouldn't have easily beaten Penn State and Wisconsin. Maybe the Gophers aren't built to be able to beat good teams with much regularity if they don't have anybody who is capable of going off for 30 points or being a...

B1G Game 18: Gophers visit Michigan State (3-1-25)

The only Power Conference school I can find with a larger losing streak against ranked teams than the Gophers' almost six season-long, 35-game losing streak is Pittsburgh who, if I counted right, appears to have lost 70 staight since they last beat a ranked team in January 2015. Wake Forest has...

    NCAA Bracketology

I know but it's annoying that they can't even take advantage of the weakest bubble ever and make the NCAA Tournament because (unless they win tomorrow or make a big run in the Big Ten Tournament) of their inability to compete against top teams in their confererence at the same level as 1-16 Penn...

    NCAA Bracketology

On the other end of the Top 16, I was glancing at the Purdue at Penn St game on BTN and at halftime Autumn Johnson still had Minnesota in her Last Four In. If they could just win one more dang game. I see Virginia Tech lost in overtime at Boston College (just a Q2 loss). Without any bid-stealers...

    B1G Game 17: Gophers host Washington (2-26-25)

I should have never brought her name up. I'm frustrated that the Gophers, no matter who the coach is or who the players are, can never seemingly achieve what should be a very low bar of making it back to the NCAA Tournament because I hate that the most successful season in recent history...

    B1G Game 17: Gophers host Washington (2-26-25)

Illinois has won at Maryland, at Indiana, and beaten Iowa, Oregon, and Nebraska. Otherwise using that logic, Wisconsin is better than Michigan this season since they beat them (or MIchigan isn't any good because they lost to Wisconsin), etc.
