    Time to reevaluate

a good deal of this is simply the fact that this team is very reliant on getting hot from 3. Most teams are but it’s a very much our identity.

    Christie going pro?

I would agree 99% of the time with this. The one place I wouldn’t is when a 4 year rebuild plan (in an era where it’s possible in 1 year) falls apart like a house of cards because your 5th COVID year senior that had the talent to do so goes pro or leaves for big cash.

    Christie going pro?

He wouldn’t be the first ever player to leave before being “strong enough” for the NBA. An NBA team might draft him because he has the frame and work ethic and can get strong enough in 1-2 years with NBA strength training. In this case, they have a near genetic copy that they’ve already seen...

    Christie going pro?

I had similar thoughts and speculation on this in the NIL thread. Very similar skillset to his brother who did not spend much time at all in the G-League and is about to get a 2nd contract going into his 3rd season the size of a mid-1st round pick or better.

Hawk finishes 2nd in D1 in assists with a 7.5 apg and we were 15th in the country at 17.3

He’s really good, but per that one twitter thread from skunk fan a few years ago, don’t we kind of cook the books with home assist numbers?

Shooter: Market value suggests it could cost nearly $10,000 a month over the school year to retain Christie; $3-4K/month to keep Payne

The season is basically over. He has shot better than his brother did at all levels of the floor. His brother got drafted. To me, there isn’t much wiggle room.

Shooter: Market value suggests it could cost nearly $10,000 a month over the school year to retain Christie; $3-4K/month to keep Payne

Put it this way, this is the gamble or choice: -Stay in college for some good $ for a year ($500k?) and gamble on yourself that you play yourself into the lottery in one year. If so, you sign a 4 year, $25 million deal at age 21. -Do what Max did and leave now to get drafted in the late...

Shooter: Market value suggests it could cost nearly $10,000 a month over the school year to retain Christie; $3-4K/month to keep Payne

I don’t comment much on here but logged in because this intrigues me a bit. I’m not a scout or very familiar with Max’s one year at MSU, so I can’t comment on defense and other facets, but by the box score, Cam is having a better freshman year than Max. NIL is great for college to keep Edey...

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

Was the MN talent overrated? All of the guys we have were ranked in the #200 range, nationally. That usually means “decent major conference starter or mid major guy” which is about all we can hope for in 2 years with some of them if they hang around that long.

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

Ben brought in a bunch of transfers as well. Two of them on our current roster were supposed sought after transfers. Payne might be something but otherwise the 4 freshmen are probably role player types. So we’d have to hope the 2 freshmen next year are studs and can get something done with...

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

Can somebody explain to me that while I understand Evans was a late-riser, is there an explanation why only a handful of teams were in on him? UCLA, USC, Arizona, etc weren’t involved? If NIL is a thing, we’re not hearing some team with big pockets trying to offer him millions, yet he’s almost...

Way-too-early look at next year's Big Ten football power rankings (10. Minnesota)

All true, but I think my main point that may not be reflected in the power rankings is that there is a high likelihood our schedule will be murderers row. At the very least, we can agree on that?

Way-too-early look at next year's Big Ten football power rankings (10. Minnesota)

You’re right that they cushion the bets a bit on season totals and betting futures is generally stupid, and neither team is winning the title. But if you think that 3.5x disparity in title odds doesn’t mean something, I don’t know what to tell you. It implies that their predictive model thinks...
